New GSL-SE Help!

I just got a '84 SE and the guy told me that there has something wrong with a gasket on the clutch master cylinder so when I depress the clutch it feels good but sticks to the floor. There are no leaks in any lines and it was driving fine but now everytime I push it it sticks to the floor and I stall it. Also if I push it a bit and move my foot and can see it sucking itself to the floor! lol Anybody know what it might be?

you proably need to replace the master cylinder and/or the slave cylinder. you really cant do much else about. its an easy process though. two bolts for each and then just bleed the line.

Change both the master and slave cylinder and the rubber line from the master to the slave. If you like to rebuild things, there are kits available. I recently did mine and bought new (rebuilt?) ones so I could yell at Advance Auto Parts if they didn't work Slave cylinder is hard to get to if you still have the rat's nest, but be patient and you'll get there. When you put the master cylinder in, be sure the bolt threads go all the way through the fire wall before you screw the nuts back on, or you'll have to take them back off and put some spacers on (another hour+ of work).

Good luck! -David

be gentle when you're torquing the slave cylinder back in. the transmission bellhousing is aluminum and the threads will strip out if you're overzealous.

I have an Audi that I only drive in the winter, that was doing the same "stick to the floor" thing when I started using her again this year (she sat all spring/summer). I just got down there and worked it back and forth for a few minutes and have had no problem since. I believe that the throwout bearing (or whatever slides back and forth with the clutch) was slightly rusted to the transmission shaft or whatever due to non use.
