New GSL

I just picked my first RX-7 last saturday. Its a 85 GSL and its red. I got it for free. The last owner left it sitting in his front yard for that last 5 years because he couldn't get it to pass the emmisions up there. The car has 105,000 miles on it and its in great shape, it idles at around 750-800 rpm. The only thing is that the hood and the top of the front fenders are pretty faded from oxidation I guess but everything else is fine.

Good find. If its red then your in luck. You can use Zymol and get it shining like new again. My car is red and was faded very badly when I got it, now it shines like new. Just use Zymol polishing stuff with a good buffing wheel then put zymol wax on it to keep it looking good. Got any pics?

Where can I pick up some of that Zymol at?? I'm pretty new to RX-7, I've helped other friends work on them and I know enough not to get screwed but this is my first rotary. I've always been told to add some two cycle oil to the fuel when I fill up to help with the longevity of the engine, is this true? Also there is a pipe that was hanging from the bottom of the car that I just taped up for the time being. Its a pretty long pipe that runs from air pump into the exhaust I guess. Will anything really terrible happen if I just yanked it off and through it away?
