Or something...
The IDA was/is a big Weber downdraft carb. Worked great...but they are a carb. They can be finically to tune.
This takes the same system to the next step - fuel injection. This throttle bodies allows you to mount four fuel injectors right on top of the manifold. So, now you can have the great power of the IDA set up with all the tuning benefits of fuel injections (with a stand alone ECU).

A carb is truly GREAT! (when it works right)!
But, if there is a change altitude or the outside temperature changes, then it goes out of tune a bit.
With fuel injection the ECU will adjust for all of these factors. Then we you make a bigger change to your car (say a different header) then you can make some changes to the settings in your ECU and you are back in tune.
With the Weber IDA, each small adjustment requires that you buy a couple more parts...wait a couple weeks to get them...then you find out you need to make another change.
This process can drive you nuts!
Cost...
How fast can you afford to go?
This system in not cheap
Throttle body $500 to $1000
Injectors $400
Manifold $250 to $500
ECU $250 to $2500
Tuning $300 to $800
This is just the basics.

I think the www.tweakit.org prices are a little cheaper. They have the ITB for about 640$ plus if you want to add anything, also their IDA manifolds, are only about 100$.
I'm also going to be going this way soon. My list includes but not limited to:
50mm ITB (~700$ with extras)
IDA manifold (~100$)
Megasquirt (~300$)
Onboard computer (~600$ ...cheaper than buying a new laptop)
Injectors (~400$)
Sensors (~300$)
by far nor cheap as with everything you're really looking around 3,000$ for everything and depends how much you can do yourself, but as others have mentioned it would be a better setup, especially in the fuel economy area, as gas prices increasing too. The main idea for having an onboard computer is to basically be able to switch modes from performance and regular, and also to use the screen as a 6 guage display instead of buying more guages and achieve a cleaner look.
