theres a first gen rx7 (85) for sale, the guy wants 1000...it has 170k miles, but looks like it has been taken care of (no rust and nice paint-original) the engine (12a) i am guessing was probably rebuilt since it didnt burn any oil, i didnt even see any when he started it up. but the car has a salvage title-it had damage on the front right fender and i guess it wasnt worth the repair (he bought from insurance auction) but the guy simply hammered it out and it looks ok. the steering also felt kindve heavy compared to what ive driven but i think its because of the lack of p/s
is this a good deal ???
this would be a daily driver/autox car

All Rotories should burn a bit of oil as part of their normal functoin. If this quy told you it does not burn any oil I would question him on it. Either he knows nothing about rotories or is trying to take advantage of some who is new to them.
I agree with wwilliam54 since there has been damage to the car, and the title is not good roll him down some.
As far as a daily driver is concerned, they make a great one. I dorve my first one for two years straight winter and summer and It was the best damn car I have ever driven in the snow (I put now tires on). They are a lot of fun thats for sure

Prosthetic head.
$1000 is too high, but that's expected. 170k miles is alot, even for a rotory, and if there is any body damage at al that should bring the price down. The steering will always feel "heavy" because it is not power steering. It only feels heavy at low speeds and when you get up to speed it provides good handling.
Yeah, carfax should be helpful in this purchase. Is it an '85 GS? And how is the paint?

Yes, the steering will feel heavy like everyone else mentioned. I like that though. Last night I had to drive my dad's infiniti, and wow, I hate power steering. It's way to light for me. I'd say $1000 is way to much. Maybe like $500-$700. Ask about when the engine was rebuilt, get receipts as proof. Good luck. If you take some pictures and post them here I'm sure it would help in estimating the value.
