The need for speed

Alright, I now have two 85's. One has had all of the emissions taken off, from when I bought it, and has a header with an open exhaust. This car runs great, is very fast, and the engine revs very well. My other car I just bought and got running. It has all stock emissions and exhaust. And the engine is slow in this car, it hardly has a throttle response, it takes a long time on the gas to get it to rev up any, but the tach doesn't work so I am not sure exactly what RPMs I'm talking about.
So I am wondering if it is all of the emissions crap on the engine with the stock exhaust that is holding the engine back from hight RPMs or is it possible I have other problems? Any ideas would be great.

having the emissions on wont hinder the free revving of the engine. it was designed to run with the rats nest. you may want to check and make sure you're not running on one rotor. make sure you check to see if you have spark on both rotors and both leading and trailing ignition. check your fuel filter, make sure you are in fact getting a good flow rate.

Check for clogged cats while you're at it.

Check the exhaust for restrictions.

I also would bet that the trailing ignitor is gone. The tach runs off of it, so its usually a dead give away. If you have a timing light see if your 2 trailing plugs are not getting spark.... (wouldn't hurt to change your fuel filter at the same time, they are cheap so why not...)
