Angry need quick advice with gettin engine in my car!

ok...so ive just wasted 3 hours tryin to get my damned engine into my car...

first i get the engine in just fine and bolted up to the tranny...but then there was no way that i could get the engine on the mounts

so i just finished unbolting the engine from the tranny cuz i figured that would be the only way to get the motor on the mounts was before i got it on the tranny...WTF???...now the tranny is just in the ****** way!

i know you dont have to pull the tranny to have the engine pulled and replaced...but ive never done it and need some help, band-aids, and type 0 blood cuz i fucked up my finger good.

I JUST installed a new engine in my 83. Now I am trying to start it and no luck as of yet, its my timing. I dont know if this will help, but did you leave the front motor mount off? wait until the engine is in, then put it on. otherwise it gets in the way. I fought for over an hour then figured that part out. -Scott
sorry... wrong blood type, but I have a couple of band aids left, my hands look like hamburger as well.

if you have the right tools, what you'd need to do is jack up the tranny a bit, and give it a bit of an angle, then slide it in and try to do this with the front of the engine above the studs for the motor mount, it's a pain, especially if you are doing this by yourself.

not sure what point you're at now, but I always find putting the engine and tranny in a unit works best and saves time. I agree with the motormount, take that b***h off or leave it real loose. And you are going to have to have a jack under that tranny for the proper angle.

You're not the first one to do that. I know that trick too.

LOL... Yeah, I'm sure we all have moments like that one that we'd like to have back. Another tip is to not tighten the bell housing bolts until after the engine mount bolts are in place.
