In need of new muffler - Suggestions?

I can't remember where, but I think I was hearing good comments about the magnaflow mufflers? My SA has the full racing beat exhaust (road race IIRC) and I'm in need of a new muffler. I'm not sure which way to go - what sounds best, and is affordable. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Links? I'm going to start searching now, but maybe you guys can help me out first.

I'm not sure my dad had a racing beat muffler or not. Whatever it is, its been on there for about 20 years, and it basically fell off where the muffler connected to the exhaust. I really don't think it was RB though because it doesn't say so anywhere on there. Oh, and its wierd though - because on here I see everyones sexy exhaust - and although ours is RB its like uber old haha. Like, rough and black and stuff. I guess he didn't get the stainless steel (did they have that 20 years ago?) But yeah, I'm looking at some magnaflow mufflers right now - and HOW loud are their "racing" mufflers? What would you guys suggest from their lineup? Are they all going to be in the 200$ pricerange?

I have the same one as "Onlyonthurs". He recomended it to me and i just love it. Im runing a rb header to strait pipe to resonator to the magnaflow and its awesome. It sounds super good and for the price u cant beet it. Mine shoots some good flames that u can see at night as well. I love the sound. I can try and get some audio clips for u.

Alright, well I bought the Magnaflow that was in the for sale section. It has a 2.5in entrance and a 2.5in exit, and I bought it for $65. I drove my car last night to the movies with all my friends, and lets just say....people noticed haha. My dad may not like it if its as loud as you guys say- but I'm still a stupid kid so I'm completely fine with that! I'm going to have to bring it to a muffler shop to have it installed, as last time we tried to weld something under there, we only welded up the bottom half.

HISTORY of my exhaust (RB)
Yeah, so I asked my dad - and he said everything from the headers to the muffler was RB. It wasn't their roadrace - merely the streetable one. So yeah, after 20 something years racing beat will deteriorate. But hell, thats a long time...right?

Shoulda bought a Borla. I had a Magnaflow for three years and it doesn't even begin to touch the awesome tone of the Borla.

Also the Borla flows better too. Magnaflows are decent enough, but the Borla Turbo/XS is just superior.

^^^ A friend of mine just recently put a Borla Exhaust on his FC and i'll defiently tell you that it does sound nice. A LOT quieter than the magnaflow but it does have a nice tone. When i get tired of this magnaflow that i have right now (which wont be for a while) then i will switch over to Borla.

Thanks! But I already have a Primaflow, it's not loud at all. I have RB headers... high flow cat... and primaflow muffler and it's quiet as hell. I might keep it that way... since my bro's magnaflow is loud as hell to me and my mazda3 has the mazdaspeed exhaust on too.

Wll its shiny and made of stainless steel.

http://www.borla.com/proxs/

You can get one new for $80, all stainless construction. Quieter than a Magnaflow and flows 100CFM higher than a Magnaflow.

Now are you going to tell me which muffler is superior?

It's an uphill battle to get the Borla out there since the knee-jerk reaction is Magnaflow, but 'tween me and Tranquil, we'll get 'er done. I'll never, ever, go back to Magnaflow again. There's no reason to, the Borla is of similar build quality, is lighter, flows better and is quieter to boot.
