Need new catalytic converter

Anyone know where to pick one up for an '85 gsl-SE?

I'm sick of the extreme loudness out of my exhaust, and that smell that wraps back around into my windows, gives me quite the headache. I don't mind a little noise, but god its loud without it.

Here is one I have heard good things about:

http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/saexhaust.html

It is the Bonez high flow cat. It replaces all three of your cats with a single high flow cat. It cost $245, so it isn't too expensive. Should free up some power (compared to stock cats) and will give you clean emissions as well.

i think my other 2 cats are still intact, and probably need to be replaced as well, or cut in with straight pipe and buy that thing. Do you think that would actually save me money? buying that one to replace all 3 and filling in with straight pipe? Rather than buying 3 new stock cats and putting them in?

edit: where are the other 3? are they on the same section as the other ones? so all i'd have to buy is that thing and it would fill in the gaps of the other 2 being gone?

This piece just bolts in. You don't have to add any piping or anything. You can't really see in the pics, but it extends out and bends up, replacing the two precats with a presilencer. It should be really easy to put in (as long as the nuts aren't ruted). I think this is the most economical and easiest solution. Just the main cat (Mazda one) from Mazdatrix is $2,178.48 and their aftermarket cats are $420 for the main. Can't really beat this. You may be able to find a universal cat cheaper, but it may not hold up to the rotary heat and by the time you weld it in and everything, it would probably cost as much as the Bonez one.

They also have the gasket and bolt kit separate ($15). They don't list the SE, though. You can ask about this when you order or you can just get the gaskets at the dealer.

Okay, thanks man. I will probably be picking that up when I get some extra cash flow. The lack of work is killing my bank account, allready down to 220.00 and it gets lower everyday.

I just got one of these bonez high flow cats, and when i bolted it in and started up the car to test for air leaks the whole thing started glowing red hot within a few minutes of idling...is that normal?

i put in a magnaflow high flow cat. cost is about $60, but you will need to weld this in or go to a muffler shop and have it done. if one of your cats is plugged to hell you may aswell just replace as much as possible at the same time, custom piping really isnt that expensive.

Indeed it is very old, I just saw it on the forum, and was like "wtf, i posted that like 4 months ago". Either way, I never did replace anything Im waiting until I can just buy some Racing Beat exhaust, though now I have a rather nice hole in my pipe due to an abnormally shaped rock in the middle of the road I didn't see until it was 3 feet infront of me. (I was tailgating a friend trying to **** him off, and I guess tailgating really doesn't pay )
