Need a little help
I just changed out one of the worst looking clutches I've ever seen. While doing that, I managed to almost completely destroy the factory exhaust. I drove the car for a short "I wanna play with my new clutch" trip and it wanted to die at higher rpms. I think its a backpressure issue caused by a very large leak between the manifold and pre-cat. Am I correct, or should I be looking for something else?
Also, the three lines that hook to the starter on an 84 S are constant power from the battery, ignition switch lead (black and yellow), and ?????. The Haynes comic book shows that this other terminal gives power to the hot-start assist. This wire in question was laying on the ground when I went to install the tranny. I have no idea what to wire to what. I believe these are two seperate issues, but lets face it I was a fuel injected guy for the last few years. These FBs are a strange and wonderfully new experience for me.
Please tell me how screwed I am. Thanks. Sorry this post is so long.

Wait a minute... it was late... I bet I have a vacuum line loose. Before I go home and search the 412 vacuum lines, can anyone tell me if the engine should run smooth even with that exhaust leak? The car sounds like it just has the manifold installed and nothing else. Huge leak at the rear of the manifold.

I found the vacuum leak. When I had disconnected the split-air pipe I had popped a very large vacuum line off the rear of the motor. Now all I need is a carb rebuild. I'm having some fuel issues beyond 5000 rpms.
