White smoke in your exhaust without any blue tint is coolant being burned, usually through a broken sealing 'rubber' (Mazda term). These are the large O-rings that encircle each of the rotor housings to the side/middle housings. It could also be due to antifreeze/coolant leaks at your intake manifold, which is actually pretty common, and in your case, preferable to having a sealing rubber going out.

The sealing rubbers can only be replaced through an entire tear-down and rebuild. The intake manifold is simply the lower intake manifold plus 2 O-rings available through VB or Mazdatrix.

Does it have any smell to it (the exhaust)? That should tell you a lot - also check your coolant level and overflow tank. If they need to be topped off frequently, then it's getting burned if you don't have any puddles under your car or on top of your engine block at the intake manifold.

Take a look there and let us know what you find,

Tell us where and when you see the smoke. Is it only on start up? Is it from the exhaust? Are you losing coolant? If yes to these, you are probably getting water in the combustion chamber, the kiss of death for a rotary engine. Pull your bottom plugs and see if they're wet. Depending on how bad it is, you may be able to drive it for a bit, but the only fix is a rebuild. There is a back-woods fix on the internet that involves CRC Blockseal, but it's only a temp fix.

True LongDuck, I forgot about the intake manifold o-rings. Much easier to replace those! Good luck Big J, keep us posted.
