need help removeing ac 1980 rx-7

need help removeing ac 1980 rx-7

right now my ac is not fully hooked up. don't even have the belt on it.
it needs to be charged. i dont really want to have it on hot days open windows and take the sun roof off is good enough for me. pluse getting it converted to the new gas ect is way to much money that iam willing to spend on some thing i don't need. can you guys help me out please with a cherry on top i tried the search but every time i do the site freezes up on me. my car is a 1980 rx-7.

Basically, you discharge the remaining refrigerant legally, remove lines going into firewall, remove compressor and condenser and you are done. Not too hard at all. You will probably also have to cap off a vacuum line that bumps up the idle when the A/C is on.

i think it only cost me about $40 to convert mine.....i did it myself though but its not hard at all

my brother and best friend work for my uncle whos owns his own shop he said id have to buy a few parts to replace cause the hooks for the older gas wount work for the new gas.

Yes, the connections of the new hoses are different. I would think changing the connections or findaing an adapter would not be too difficult.
I say save the AC. It is a great feature and will help resale in most cases.

I removed mine a few years ago and am currently in the process of reinstalling it. Not so much for the heat, but for when its raining in the summer since you can't have windows open. To do the quick/cheap conversion it you just need different fittings (a few dollars at NAPA etc) to do it right you should really change the reciever/dryer and put new orings in and recharge it. It's not a terribly hard job, and walmart sells cans of r134a that you can charge it yourself with...

i dont plan on reselling this car. iam gonna keep it for life. so can any one get a pic of what i have to cap to keep it idleing right. also my temp gage is broken the kid i got the car from put a junk sunpro in what should normale driveing temp be cause its peg at 280 and i know its not really that hot figured the kid wired it wroung.

if you remove the rats nest, no need to cap off anything with it. I am not 100% sure that you even have to with the rats nest intact, but remove it anyways. Cleans up the engine bay a great amount.
