Talking need help reinstalling carb!!!!

a friend of mine gave me an 81 rx (thank the Lord!) and im pretty happy about it but now i have to go pick it up in huston. i need to rebuild and re-install the carb. i have no idea what im doing. i dissasembled the carb on a pinto, and it ddnt take too long. so i was thinking maybe of taking it apart (but not completely) cleaning it out real good, replaceing the seals i broke tasking it apart and bolting it back on. however theres a rats nest i have to deal with, and i dont know where to start, so i guess im basically lookin for some tips. theres a walk through somewhere on here, if anyone knows it off hand please post the url. if not i'll dig it up. i need a haynes, but i dont have 14$ right now so it'll have to wait. is this a difficult repair? can i figure it out without the manual? will dorris marry jim? all this and more in YOUR replys!

same bat time, same bat channel............

Hi and welcome to hell, whoops wrong forum. Look at the sticky thread at the top of this forum page. Theres an FAQ thread that has links to all sorts of answers to your questions. Theres also an online shop manual you can use till you get a hard copy. FOr the rats nest removal go to www.mazspeed.com and look in the facts section.

You don't really have to have the manual but it would be a good idea. The haynes manual tells you the order of disassembly, Look for threads here and at www.mazspeed.com for tips on carb rebuilds.

nah not that far off, ever miss ONE bolt so you have to do it over again? argh im glad im done with carbs... (at least until futher notice...)

its easy enough, just take photos and mark EVERYTHING! even the stuff you dont think is imporant. But if you can do that you will be fine, just double check your gaskets to make sure they arent broken (personal experience here.... )

Good luck
