Need combo switch help, please!

No high beams, so I tried to take the combo switch off. No luck, so I decided to work on the section that is the problem. With the steering wheel off, I took the two screws out on the left side that hold in the light control with a 'U' shaped metal bracket, then sprayed contact cleaner inside & worked the contacts gently with a screwdriver. Hight beams work! Now, my problem is a tiny ball bearing came out when I removed the control, I think that's why it won't actuate right. The actuation controlling the parking lights/headlights up, on, and down work fine, but I can't get the high beams to stay on. 'Flash' works, but it's difficult to push the control in to keep high beams on, seems to be binding. I'm betting that ball bearing goes somewhere important.
Can anyone lend a hand, here?
Thanks!

MW,

Those bearings typically go inside a "groove" on the device you are working on. The side toggle switchs have them also. You really need to get the combo switch off so you can track down the location of the bearing and put it back in.
On the top back side of the combo switch is a metal "hook". Once you remove the screw (on bottom?), you have to reach over the top and "unhook" the hook. Then you can get the combo switch off the stalk.

If I remember correctly, that ball goes on the extreme end of the arm, somewhat inside of the blinker unit.
