Need Clutch Help

My clutch pedal has gone soft. I tried bleeding it - no improvement. The problem actually got worse. I replaced the master cylinder. Some imporovement, but the pedal is still soft and it is still difficult to change gears.

I have not leaks. When I try to bleed the system I always get bubbles. I am planning to change the slave cylinder tonight. What else could it that results in a soft clutch pedal? It seems to me that a soft clutch pedal has to be something in the hydraulic system.

Not sure what is going on-- but you should probably also change the rubber line from the master to slave cylinder. Most clutch posts I've read recommend this.

replace your master and slave cylinders you will get your pedal back after that they are not that expensive at the auto part stores. and make sure you save the old ones and buy a rebuild kit so if you have this problem again you can just swap the rebuilt one in. i think they cost like $30 for the new ones. just do that i had the same problem.

when you replace your slave cylinder, make sure you also replace the clutch slave hose as well. the leaks are usually a combination of a bad seal on the slave piston and a worn/torn slave boot.

Problem Solved.

I ended up replacing the master and slave clutch cylinders and doing a thorough bleeding of the system. It was curious that I could not see any fluid leaking, but air was getting in somewhere. I suspect the problem was actually in ths slave cylinder.

The good news is I was able to use this problem to justify buying a vacuum pump system. No more having family members pump the pedals.

yea, about those replacement parts and rebuild kits, I ask any parts store in my city, and they always look at me funny. does anybody know if the Rx-4's slave cylinder is the same as the S1 Rx-7's?
