Need to clean out ventilation system?
welcome to the board.
you're just going to have to get a copy of the FSM and start pulling things apart until you find it. pull the seat out so you can peel the carpeting all the way to the center tunnel, plus it gives you A LOT of room to work.

Welcome-
if the -SE is set up as the earlier RX7s (ie the mechanical locations of the components, body inlets, etc) are the same, as I believe they are, then the smell is coming from where the exterior inlet (in the wiper motor cavity on the passenger side) for fresh air intake is. This should dump right down thru the firewall to the blower motor, which might be where the wee bastids set up their home. You should be able to drop down the fan assy (behind glove box) and get an idea of what is going on...
Hint: if stored over winters, you might want to pop a few MOTHBALLS in a container at the cavity entrance...

My first thought Stu! I'd check up there first and make my way behind the dash afterwards. Good luck with it!
