Need to clean out fuel tank

I know this topic has been covered before (did a search), but I didn't see any prices attached to the process.

The car is a '84 GS and it's been sitting for a while. The car runs, but the fuel pump/filter keeps clogging up w/ goo from the tank. So...the tank will be removed from the car and dropped off at a shop to be cleaned out.

What is the average price to have this done? Do they need to recondition the inside or is that something I could do in my driveway? Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

I tried cleaning my tank out but found a area on the passenger side of the tank to hard to get all the crap out. After all my work it only cost $25-$50 for a tank from the junk yard. Good luck.

75-120 depending on whether you're getting it lined too. also area dependent.

That's a resonable price for a used tank. One thing to keep in mind is you can use buy a liquid from a cycle shop to coat the inside of the tank. I've done it a few times where tanks are very expensive... Clean tank with a pressure washer, dry, a little 'glass on the outside then pour liquid in and slosh around and let dry. Presto. No leaks. Add a little undercoating, looks like new. I believe the bikers use this on the 2 part tanks. It looks like some type of epoxy to me.

its very expensive to do an auto tank with the sealer that the bikers use. finding a junk yard tank that is usable is a feat in itself. 25 is a steal.
