Need to change headlight rods/bushings

I just checked mazdatrix and all four of them (2 short and 2 long) will be 128.00 + ship. Anyone ever order new ones? Wonder what the dealer will want for them?

Wont the bushings install into the old rods? I thought they did but of course I could be wrong. Update this and let us know as I also need to do this.

BD has them too, but they aren't any cheaper. 30 for one 40 for the other.

They must have gone up, I don't remember paying that much a few years ago from mazdatrix..... And yes, you have to replace the whole thing.

bushings for headlight linkage

I think someone had said that they found some bushings for running electrical wires through a hole without chaffing that were a perfect fit to replace the hard plastic end bushings.
Hoefully he is still on this list and will provide the details.
A more involved, but potentially more permanent fix may be to replace the flat arms with threaded rods and heim joints.

Rubber electrical grommets work perfectly. Maximum cost $1 each,at that price you can afford to replace them frequently if necessary.

Can you post the size of the grommets that you found to work for this?

They've gone up in price: a lot. JY arm bushings are usually so deteriorated that they crumble immediately. I wondered about electrical grommets but thought they'd bind too much. I have some extra arms without bushings so next time I'll try casting something like epoxy to form a bushing right on the arms: a few scraps of wood and a smoothshank rod or bolt ought to do the trick.
