NA 13bT

Hi, living in Australia means all our 13b 1st gens have their engines out of other cars. A lot of them have 13b turbo engines without turbos, I assume the 13bT engines have a lower compresion ratio, what affect does this have on the power of the car compared to a normall 13b?
Thanks,

I didn't say I was gonna run that, just that there are lots around for sale and I wanted to find out what one would be like compared to a na 13b engine (which I can't find in a first gen)

Well if you've got lower compression your gonna have less horse power but, you can just switch over to some NA rotors for the higher compression. If you go with S5 rotors you can get even more compression than the other series motors.

I thought that the big loss would be low down torque. Has anyone driven a car with this set up? I'm asking this because I found a black first gen with this set up, it had a great body but the interior was tatty, the owner won't except anything less than 8 grand which seems to much to me for a 82.

When I was in Australia for the past six months, I had a chance to meet up with a couple rotary guys. I rode all over the place in a 1st gen with a 13bt engine without the turbo. Felt fine to me. Stil went hella fast. So, i'm not sure if there is a huge difference or not.

You could always reinstall the turbo if you weren't happy with the performance.

8 grand? That's way too much... especially if the interior's a bit rough.

nah, not ported. I thought it was way too much to (this is in aussie dollars though). She was really stubburn and said lots of people had offered her bellow 8 and she wouldn't take it. It still has the stock exaust, no mods except the 13b. I think I'll call her again later cos at that price I can't see her selling it!

That's way too much. I paid $7000 Aus for an 81 with a S513BT with the turbo. Engineered and in good nick, except for a tatty interior.

I have a 13b turbo in a 85 GSL-SE. I decided to try it something new and I made it put a dellorto carb and some headers. The torque was fine and so was the power. I did not notice any difference between the turbo and carb setup. I would have expected a loss of power but the car seem fine to me.
