Mystery connector under hood!?

Hello Rotaryheads:
Messing about under the hood I have discovered a connector plug with two clipped wires not connected to anything, but my 85 GSL-SE runs just fine as far as I can tell. I may have clipped something without knowing it in my many visits under the hood getting the car running after I bought it, but I guess I never noticed this plug before. I've attached a picture. Does anyone know what this is and where those two clipped black wires should go to and what the function is? I've looked and looked but can not see where those may have been connected to. I wonder it it's somewhere under the dynamic chamber in that space there.

There are those two white plastic clips/connectors under the BAC Valve/AC idle control valve (I forget the official name for this), but this is a black connector. The wires from the bottom of the connector run into a harness that wraps in front of the manifold (Dynamic Chamber?) and then over to a harness up against the air box that holds the air filter. So I figure there must be some function for this connection. There's no voltage reading with the engine on or off, of the ignition on without the engine running.

Also (not electrical related but I'll slip this in), there's a brass looking "breather" pipe (about 2" long) at the very bottom of the oil filler tube. It just vents to air now. There's no vacuum or apparent air going either direction. Should this be hooked up to a hose going somewhere, or is it meant to just be an open breather?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

I figured out what that pipe is at the bottom of the oil filler tube...I must have pulled the hose off of it when changing my oil filter. A hose does fit over it and goes to the charcoal canister pipe on the firewall.

I still do need to find out about that connector though if I can.

looks like the air temperature sensor wires, they are prone to breaking off right at the sensor.

Looks like the wires broke off of your IAT sensor. Intake Air Temperature Sensor.

Its located under the BAC and screws into the manifold.

Good luck finding a new one. Ive been looking for awhile now. Ive also been running without it hooked up for a few months. Nothing extreme, but I'm sure it does make a difference.

Hey Cesspool and Smokey... Thanks for the tip. That is in fact the solution. The wires had broken off so cleanly I never even thought that black round item on the chamber was a part. Looking closely there's just a hint of copper where the wires were once attached. I'm going to check out some junk yards to see if anyone in Arizona has any wrecked GSL-SE's that may have the IAT intact.

On another RX7 forum someone said the IAT in 2nd generation RX7s is the same piece except it has two receiver prongs for wiring clips, instead of those wires being soldered directly on the IAT like on our FB RX7s. So if you can find one of those, that sounds like a better design.
