Something similar happened to shrykFC3S. He was driving, car idled real rough then died. He limped it home. I hope its not the same for you because he blew his apex seals.

Check for a good spark. Pull all the plugs and plug them back into the loose wires. Bottom plugs are leading ignition, top are trailing. Hold the metal side of the plug to a ground and turn the engine over, you should see a nice blue spark across the gap. Do that for all 4 plugs, and make sure they are all firing well. If either leading or trailing isnt firing, try switching the ignitors around on the side of the distributor. (You will probably need to pull the distributor to do this, so make sure to align the timing marks on the dizzy and on the front pulley before putting things back.) Now check again, if switching the leading/trailing ignitors out switched which set of plugs fire, then you found your problem. If not, switch your coils around and check again. Still no luck?...check for loose wiring, but chances are by this step you should have all 4 plugs firing, if they werent already.

So now that we have good ignition, (I hope you set the timing back properly) verify fuel delivery, just let her warm up and check fuel level in the sight glass on the carb while idling. Make sure she's warmed up if you can, the fuel should be halfway up the little window on both front and back of the carb, you will need a mirror to see the back. Oh and you can buy a generic canister style coil from auto zone for $25. The little J109 ignitors, however, arent so cheap.

Well my fingers are starting to get tired now, that should be enough to keep you busy for now, post back tomorrow and let us know what you come up with.

problems been found. 2nd rotor has a blown apex. =[ and i dont have the money to get it fixed.

damn it. what a huge disappointment. I went to formula drift yesterday and came home all excited about my 7. i may try to rebuild it myself, but i dont think i can, nor do i think i can afford the parts for it.

If you can get the parts, I reccommend trying to rebuild, what's the worst that could happen if it already has a blown apex seal? Just take your time and don't get in a rush about anything. If you have rebuilt piston engines before you will be surprised to find there are only 3 moving parts inside. I think most of the stigma that our engines have of being unbearably complex comes from misunderstanding. That said, here's the cheapest way to get your rebuild parts: racingbeat.com part# 11016 (get all 6) and part #11012 (get all 6). Now go to the parts store and order the gasket kit that comes with the oil control rings, side seals, etc. I'll get you the order number for that gasket kit tomorrow, it's $220, big savings over what racingbeat asks for a full rebuild kit, and you still get the high performance apex seals. They say not to use those seals for boosted applications, but I use 'em myself with no detonation problems whatsoever at 32 in/hg shifting 10,000 rpm so you should be fine.
