My rear axle is going to kill me
I've been trying to remove the rear axles to get access to the differential housing to replace my diff, but on my right axle the handbrake is just straight up stuck to the backing plate. Like the handbrake itself functions just fine, but I can't pull it out. It looks like there's quite a bit of JB weld in the area and I think even the handbrake cable itself was just attached to the plate.
I'm about to lose my mind.
It looks like my only option with this one is to just cut the handbrake cable, but if I do that, then I still am not sure if I'll ever be able to pull it off the backing plate, and I don't have the facilities to just replace the backing plate. I've already thrown WD-40, PB Blaster, tape on the locking pliers, pretty much everything but heat, which I want to avoid with all the stuff I already have on it.
Is there any way to remove this thing without pushing it through the backing plate? Could I remove the secondary handbrake cable in a way that lets me pull it out with the axle?
At this point I'm about ready to say **** it and just live without a right hand parking brake.
