my progress

thanks to everyone thats helped with a few questions, ive progressed greatly with the tear down of my carb, and other stuff in the engine bay.

me and my girlfriend(yes thats right girlfriend helped) haha tear down the carb, and unwrap the wire harness and pulled out unneeded wires, and helped clean the engine bay of undercoat and grim. ill have pics soon. this is my 3rd rx7, first one you may remember when i went by Zalitore, the engine was crap. and scraped it, my GSL blue and black/silver one is being done up by my buddy. and my 3rd one i bought in quebec and just started to redo it all with the assistance of my girlfriend. which i thought was awsome when she was like lets go work on your car, i was like wtf and we ewnt and took **** off and cleaned the hell outa it. haha

anyway ill have pics of it soon. its coming along nicely, one question tho what do you guys use to get your carbs so clean and shiny ? i cant clean mine past a dull silver/aluminum color. do i paint it ?

thanks in advance

Its a few processes actually. Theres bead blasting, soaking over night in cleaning solution basically a carb cleaner that you have in a big container or parts cleaner and the final process is using a degresser soap such as simple green or catrol super clean. Wash it completely, then imidiately dry off/blow off with air to keep from rust/dulling. It helps to have it all laid out to do quickly. I've learned this from a machine shop and first hand experience, and sterling and rx7carl have simular methods. good luck, how clean looking, and how clean working are up to you.
