Did you vent your hood? From the pics is looks like you did a custom shroud attached to the hood.
Yes, I vented the hood. Here are some pics.

When you ask for opinions, you need to accept that some of them may be negative, or even trollish. But without the negative opinions, it becomes about blowing sunshine up one another's ***.

That being said, while I'm not all that into turbos myself, I can see that you've done a lot of work that anyone would be justifiably proud of.

The hood looks interesting. Take some distance shots of the car.

Yes, BUT as long as it is PRODUCTIVE. I love it when i post pics of my ride and someone says, "Hey that looks good here there and there, but what if you did this and this to that to maybe clean up that?" That is productive critisizing. That makes me think, "Wow thanks for the ideas i better get to that." This stupid little **** says, "That looks bad. I am a bad ***. My ***** hurts." What kind of productivity is in that? Everyone needs negative feedback, but nobody needs worthless critisizing aimed at just making one feel bad about all the work they just did.
MoreMazda. That is awesome! I am TOTALLY diggin the hood. I can see how much skill and hard work was put into ur ride. You should go to the track so we can get some times on the beast

Hey moremazda,

You have the same rotor housings as me! Mine are brand new!!!! They came from a Mazda dealer.....surplus! Mine are 13b '75 model!!! I got them for $200 for the pair!!! I just sent them out to have the peripheral ports cut into them and the inserts installed.

Engine compartment looks tasty by the way!!

the engine compartment is good... not such a big fan of the hood though..

the vent is a big extreme, and I hope for your sake it never rains up there...

i like the engine setup... nice job fabbing. but i don't know about the hood. looks like it is a little too much. like it will almost push all the air from the fan OUT of the engine bay. but looks great! Good job on the setup!

I love the whole thing! I would just clean up the bonnet a little and throw some paint on it, and maybe box in the vent on the hood a little more, like right above the radiator. Otherwise, I definitly respect all the work you have done, and it looks great!

I would ignore that idiot, 85SE-T. Sounds like a useless punk to me.

I totally agree with Wangelguy on this, but at the same time I think "constructive criticism" should be the key term here. That 85SE-T-person sounds too obnoxious to lend any credence to his opinions. I bet he probably hasn't even bothered to research the original threads and see what the project's goal was and where it came from - and it IS archived, so it shouldn't be hard to find. The pictures he promised to furnish will probably be someone else's car, if he shows any at all. So I think moremazda is justified in defending himself and telling the troll to "go away - QUICKLY"

That said ... moremazda - dude, I've always been an admirer of you and your car simply because of the ingenuity and "function over form"-approach you've taken. You built this thing ... nobody can take that from you! I respect that. Not only did you build it, but you selflessly put it out there for others to learn from. That's cool in my book.

I, personally, like the rough welds and hood vent. My only criticism would be out of safety rather that aesthetics - and that would be to try to protect against falling debris. I know it's probably not much of an issue while you're moving, but I'm just paranoid like that.

Wish I were closer to see it in person, but for now just know that you get 2 thumbs-up from me on the evolution thus far. Keep it up!

Last I checked, he was on his way down to Airizona or new mexico.... Not much of a rain problem there.

I know you can't do anything about it now, but... I would have put a duct in the header pannel and some louvers on the top of the hood... just a few slots to let heat out. 4 on each side, maybe.

That hood looks a little excessive, and it doesn't seem like it would be too good for aerodynamics. what do you think? What was your reasoning for that design? I'm not criticizing per-se... I'm curious and want to learn.

Perhaps that is a high pressure area, which would allow air to pass more freely through the radiator and intercooler

instead of being compacted straight to the front of teh engine, it flows freely straight from teh fan out to the open air?

Just a guess

seeing your farward facing radiator has given me new ideas on how to fix a few problems with my TII swap

the only issue i guess i could say with the hood is the back part, on the fc and fd hoods they dont have a huge lip infront of the motor to devert the air out. and id beafrade a rhino might craw inside my hood with that big opening... are you seeing any cooler temps with that setup?
