my new engine

just bought a used 12a from aussiemg, and tore it down yesterday, rotors are in great shape, irons are in great shape as well. Only problem is there is some flaking on the rotor housing. For an engine as old as it is its nothing major. However this does give me an excelent excuse to call up jbh engineering for their ceramic coating services. Ill finish cleaning up everything tomorow and get some pics. Then im porting the exhaust ports out and shipping the rotors and rotor housing off to canada.

Anyone have any experience with jbh? ive read several post with links to their web page but have not found anything on completed projects.

Once i get the rotors and housings back i will send everything to rotorsports racing
for their cryogenic treatment.

I still have not decided which apex seals to use, i can not afford ceramic seals and want the vehicle to be somewhat streetable so carbon seals are not an option.
so give me your personal favorites when it comes to seals, i plan on operating the engine in the 3-4k rpm range while cruising but i want the ability to hit around 10k rpms when i need too.
I will use modified stationary gears and 3 window bearings.
I am going to use atkins 1 piece corner seals and 3rd gen corner seal springs, i will also have the rotating assembley balanced by racing beat before i put it all back together.

My last question is how long do you think the engine would last between rebuilds if i did a full bridge port including the rotor housing modification?

My main goal is to make between 160 -200 hp at the wheels, depending on the porting, and i want the engine to last.

I already have all the supporting mods as far as ignition and fuel delivery. I am using the racing beat 465 cfm holley carb and will play with its tuning a while before i decide if i want to change it. I also use racing beat's header and presilencer, the stock midpipe and a straight through style adjustable hooker muffler.

How bad is the flaking? JBH coatings isnt cheap. I think overall your plans sound good. I'd go w/ eom, Atkins or RA seals. Good luck!
