My Neigherbors Hate Me

I noticed after doing all the testing with AFT, MMO, and SEA FOAM that I've been getting the evil eye from all my neigherbors, even ones that weren even home at the time.

I'll admit that I am shocked the fire department didnt come "its only 2 blocks away" I think since the wind was slightly blowing in the oppisit direction it saved my ***.

I did however have several people from down the street come down and turn around to see what all the fuss was about.

But man Im tellin ya if looks could kill.

My neighbers hate me just cuz... no other reason just cuz...

So I guess if I did the same thing it would give them a reason

They are relly gonna hate me when I put my headder and custom exhaust on...

I park my car at my paernts house. So THEIR neighbors probably hate me, tuning in my car (letting it idle for like 30-45 minutes while adjusting things).

I have a full striaght thru exhaust system. Most trucks are louder than it (especially at idle), but still, its deep and bassy. A lawnmower is louder than my car, much louder.

EDIT: Then i turn it off, put the cover on, and go back to my dorm ;-)

The hippies up here really hate me. Especially the time my engine flooded, and I roll-started it in a flurry of black gas/ blue oil smoke. Filled the parking lot at the HSU dorms.

I've only just completed my straight-thru exhaust setup, so my neighbours are probably only just starting to dislike me. My parents neighbours positively despise me though, because my previous '7 had a Ractive muffler on it that burned out in a couple of months and got really loud. Coming home at 2 or 3 in the morning usually made more than one light turn on in the surrounding houses.

people hate what they don't understand. I used to have a 12A BP and I worked at 5am so at 4am I would wake them up with my brapping. I had one person complain but I just told him to F off

That's why I do the sea foam / amsoil power foam treatment somehwere away from my house. Such as by the little local airport around 10pm or in the boonies.

my neighbor told me my car was loud enough to wake the dead. then she asked if it had a muffler on it at all, i said yes, THREE!

i have not pointed out to her yet, that the only dead people that sleep at 2 in the afternoon are vampires

Yesterday i was told "The neighbors and I have spoken, and we all think it's a good idea if you get your car out of the neighborhood." I pretty much told them to go F*** them selves. In the kindest way possible of course.

I know all about whiny neighbors. Mine complain about everything. I had some wheels and tire on the BACK porch until I could get the tires mounted/balanced, and the landlord told my room mate that they needed to be kept in the crawl space under the condo. And they all complain about my car being loud and that I'm running it during dinner. Last time I only had it going for 30 seconds at most before the land lord came flying out his door. I don't home until after 4, so I don't really have much of a choice on when I run my car. Soon I will be using it as a DD so they are going to have to get over it.

I added a Supertrapp end cap to my REPU and the noise patrol neighbor didn't complain anymore. 21discs has no restriction and still dissipates sound and takes *some* of the metallic ring out of it. There are noise laws in most states.

You have to admit, people who don't own a rotary usually don't like the sound of one. It's a matter of do you want people happy or mad at you.

Just tell them your car just elected a new Pope. Then walk away while they're still confused.

Wow, this thread is from before I joined the forum.

I have neighbors with cars/bikes louder than my FB, and my REPU is really quiet, so I'm safe there. And anyway, given the FB's lack of noise insulation, if it's too loud for the neighbors, chances are it's probably too loud for me, too. But if I ever had neighbors complain about my exhaust, I'd tell them to buy a decibel meter and prove I'm violating the law, or else they can stuff it.

I've never tried Seafoam before. I keep meaning to.

Since the GLC is running a stock manifold and just a single flowmaster 40 series, its noticeable, but not loud. I get more complaints about the fumes than the noise...lol. Just wait till I go with headers and my weber 48 ida. That should **** them off pretty good!

Let's see, so far...

The REPU has an RB road race header, two repacked RB presilencers like their center section, an RB powerpulse muffler, and finally a Magnaflow 18" 5x8 oval 2.5" core. Now it's quiet.

The GLC has a shortened FC collected header, full 2.5" exhaust with one 14" Magnaflow 5x8, then over to the other side, then a 14" Magnaflow 4x9 oval center/offset, then over the axle, then into a 2 1/8" Borla. It still has some volume but volumes quieter than it used to be. I'm happy.

PercentSevenC's REPU has a stock R5 manifold, 2" RB thickwall, two long RE glasspacks, and it's got more tone than the GLC. But sounds perfect. Wish my REPU sounded like this.

Next up is the MG. It's already got a shorty header, collected to 2.5". The rest will be built using an RB 2.5" presilencer for NA (the aux port sensing tube was removed), then into a 14" Magnaflow 4x9 oval center/offset, then over or under the axle, then 90 degree over and a Magnapack 4" round. Then 90 rearward. I hope it's not too loud. But some volume would be ok. No room for much else. Might not even be enough room for what I have planned.

The rotary baja has a shorty collected header to 2.5". Just one RB universal muffler so far. I might get another. No room for much else back there. Don't want to go turbo.

The S model is getting an RB road race header, RB center section, then an RE glasspack out the rear until I can get a powerpulse muffler.

The GSL-SE is getting either a header or a turbo depending on how loud it is with a full 3" exhaust. This is the one I tested in the S and it was too loud inside the car. Hopefully the GSL-SE has more sound deadening, but I had to pull the storage bins because they were full of water and the sound deadening material was full of mold. I've got a header so I'll use it for now. The rest of the system is an RB univeral 3" presilencer, then a Magnapack 4" round w/ 3" core, then finally an RB universal 3" muffler and a dumpy.

I was in my garage at my apartments tuning a new carb setup after installing it and it backfired so loud it set off 4-5 car alarms. I have my FB autox car in a garage but it's not that loud until I really get on it. I park my FC, with its 3" single exhaust to Apexi muffler, in the lot and I know people don't like it's noise, especially when I let it run at 2k rpm for a few minutes to warm up in the winter.
