So I asked her to drive it home tonight because my blood-sugar was getting a bit low. So for the remaining 20 minutes I got to hear about how "It doesn't have power steering..It doesn't handle like my HONDA (ewww!) It's too loud...ARGHHH!!!!!!
I am so freakin' irritated right now! I work hard on my car to get it to eventually be what i dream of. Little things like changing my plugs make me happy. I just can't figure out why she thinks she can even BEGIN to compare a sports car to a freakin' HONDA!!!
Of course it doesn't handle like a crappy honda, I have Tokico Illuminas all around with RB springs. Yes the steering is crappy, but imagine how it was Before the NEW column. Recirculating-ball steering sucks no matter how you spin it in these cars. I know my car is loud, that's what happens when you put a full race exhaust system in...right?
God, I'm almost ready to sell it just so I don't have to hear her complain about it.

i have the same problem with my G/F, she doesn't really like my FC, she likes her 2000 celica gt, i drove it, it sucks, the only good thing in that car are the seats . . id buy a set of those for my car that how good they are, other than that i hate it, along with every other FWD car, if the celly was AWD and had *****, and wasn't a plastic death trap . . i'd prolly like it

 

haha dude that blows, my gf loves my car, shes all its cute...AAAAHHH its not cute its AWESOME!!! She cant wait till i get an exhaust and d/p, she hates stock exhaust. I'm in my own club lol

yeah i got the "aww cute" thing too when i first got the car, i think my GF hates it mostly b/c of the shifting, keep telling her its not an automatic i'd liek to see her shift, well thats too bad . . . come to think of it my gf's sister said "its got the filp-up head lights thats cOo0ol", did i pick the wrong sister?

 

I get the flip-up headlight "Awesome" all the time. My g/f hates mine because everytime she rides in it and gets out she smells like a gas pump.

Sounds to me if you have a great honest girlfriend, after all it takes a lot to put up with a boyfriend who loves an old smelly oddball car. Lets be honest, gen 1s have really heavy slow speed steering compared with a modern car.

Don't worry about it. Most people are pampered with their modern rides and are oblivious to how a pure sports car feels on the road. She is your girlfriend and has a right to her point of view and you should respect that, but she needs to respects your point of view and your love of a pure sports car...

My wife was down on the 7 for the first bit. but a few donuts and burn outs later she started liking it. She now has a few of her own and only complans because hers is not Streetported like mine.

 

i let one of my gf's from the past drive my first 7, a mostly stock 87 TII... jeez did she hate it... she wouldn't take it over 3000 rpm, she was too scared cause it was "too fast" for her... then again she was used to a shitty 4 door saturn... least she could drive stick tho
