My electrical upgrade weekend

Just like to share what I did over this last week. Finally installed 2nd gen coil, 2nd gen fuse box, and 2nd gen alternator. You'll notice I created a jumper on the second gen coil instead of extending the wire, I can switch back and forth between the stock setup and the 2nd gen coil in literally seconds. Also, for anyone going to do the alternator mod, you might need to have the metal bushing from the second gen, I had to make a quick run to the junkyard after realizing this halfway through the project. Next to come is installing a set of fog lights and upgrading to the transistor trick (whenever i can get the parts for it).

Looks good. It looks like you cut off the ignitor to the 2nd gen coil. Make sure that you hold onto it, because you will need it for the transistor trick setup.

Actually, got the coil and fuse box from the local junkyard (they had about 5 2nd gens there). I got the alt from a local 7 owner, recently rebuilt unit that i scored for 40 bux. Got the bracket from respeed mfg. spent about 70 bux for everything.

Can't really tell from the photo, but are you still feeding power to your original coil? You don't want to do that, if you are.

Did you use the fuse box connectors/harness off an FC or something else? Interested to know as I'll be putting mine in soon.

Thanks gsl-se addict, I did save the transistor, it's in a box somewhere...

Kentetsu, I don't have the negative of the old coil hooked up, I do have the postive connected, is this configuration ok?

Revhed, Actually, if you have the patience, what you can do is slide the spade terminal (it takes a lot of time with a pair of twizers) out of the original fusible like terminal and slide it into the 2nd gen box. The only wire i end up cutting was the thick wire from the alternator and tossed a ring terminal on it to connect to the second gen box. it's kinda hard to explain, let me know if you'd like some more info and i'll try to take some pictures to show you what i'm talking about...
