Angry My damn car..............b :)

Hey whats up everybody ? The names travis and i could use your knowledge. I have just recently purchased an 85 rx7 and all in all its in pretty good shape but i have been having a little issue and i think i have narrowed it down to being the carb. the car sat for about a year before i scooped her up and i replaced the filters, plugs , battery , drained the gas tank, checked the coils and have "tried" to eliminate the potential of vaccuum leaks(man what a rats nest, can i remove any of the damn things without it being detrimental to my cars runnig ability?) , even though my air pump is siezed and the hose has been plugged it still seems to have a rough idle and when it stalls out it has to sit as if it has been flooded , then i choke it and it comes to life again....any suggestions? pls help

Hi and welcome to the board. Look in the FAQ thread at the top of this forum. Should answer your questions, including the rats nest removal tutorial.

Hey Travis I'm in Victoria too! Although I'm pretty new to the RX-7 I would be glad to have a look at yours and see if we can get it going. When I fist got mine I found that half of the battle with trying to sort out the carb was just getting to know where everything is. As much as the various pics posted here and in the shop manual helped I was really lost. I also have a printed copy of the rats nest removal instructions and I've done it so if you want a hand with that we can do it too. PM me with where you are at in Vic, I'm not busy all this week and I'd love to give you a hand.

welcome. as Rx7carl said, do a search, you will find it very helpful!!!! carbs usually will work some problems out on their own. make sure you use NGK plugs only and keep up on the cooland condition and oil levels. also, if you have cats, the air pump is A MUST!!! your converters will overheat without it and you will have almost $3000 worth of junk and a slow *** car. yes, the factory exhaust is really that much.

He's in Victoria, he can just punch out the cats, there is no emissions checks here. If you get a vehicle inspection notice and your running say.....a full road-race set-up and you still have the sticker under your hood that says you have a cat they will get you in trouble, but not otherwise. So he's free to get rid of the rats-nest and air pump if he wants.
