My Clutch is a bastard.

Ok, so my clutch went out the other day, no pressure, sticks to the floor.

So today I bled it, and it got pressure back for about 5 minutes... Two shifts while driving and I lost it again.

So I did a rebuild with a rebuild kit. Took for ******* ever to get the steel spring on the end to go on there!

Now there's absolutely no pressure... Bled it again about 6 times. It works, it bleeds, but there's no pressure at all and it sticks to the floor... Pops into place there.

I'm pissed now, since my clutch seems to be denying the laws of physics.

Any ideas?

Master cylander.

If you hold the pedal halfway to the floor, hold it there for a little bit and then it will slowly suck it to the floor.

If this is what happens w/ yours, its prolly the master cylander. Easy fix, the first fix i ever did on a car.

Hope that helps

Well thats what the problem sounds like...

A new one is $50 through victoria british, i didnt even know you COULD rebuild a master cylander, as i tried takign my old one apart and couldnt, for the life of me.

Maybe someone else has a better idea.

you can rebuild it but if it's pitted/corroded even with new seals it will be bad.

Well is your slave leaking? If you are loosing presure after 3 to 5 pumps then the fluids leaking out somewhere. If you have a scored cylinder bore, then you need to remachine it or replace it. That's why the kits don't always work.

The slave isn't leaking... Fluid goes all the way through to the bleed nipple, but there's gotta be something wrong in the slave.

I tried to take the slave off, but I don't have the tools (or maybe I just can't figure out how ) to take it off.

I tried ratchets, but there's no room, and I don't have any metric wrenches, so I'll get some tomorrow.

I got a rebuild kit for the slave, and if that doesn't work then...

I'm buying a beater with $400 and garaging my rex until I can get myself out of nightschool and into a new job.

To take the slave off get a 12mm socket on a universal joint. Attached to a long extension on a rachet or breaker bar. I just replaced mine it's pretty easy.

Well i just worked on my clutch i lost pressure and could'nt shift I bought a rebuilt kit for the master cylinder at autozone for $15.99 and installed it and then took the slave cylinder out and cleaned it and put wD40 on both and put back in and bled the lines and new again remember when you put it together you have to dip the seals in fluid !now all i have to do is adjust the peddle to high now!

Mine did the same thing... When pushed all the way down it would stay down. It turned out to be my pressure plate.

Ok here's how it got fixed:

My mom used this huge syringe and a little adapter and put it over the bleed nipple. She kept pumping it out until she got nothing but fluid.

The clutch is now stiffer than it's ever been. We bled it by hand for like 30 minutes last night, and tonight it took about 30 minutes to figure it all out and finally get it going.

So, just to let everyone know how it goes: DON'T LET AIR GET INTO YOUR CLUTCH ANYWHERE!!!

Yeah, back in her younger years, she took apart her MG Midget and then put it all back together...

In a day!
