my car, yes another one of those threads (with pics)

Back in March (2002) I started with a stock everything ( 12a) 1985 Series 3 RX-7 that looked like this..........

Since then ive fitted (with heaps of help from my good friend Stuie)

RX4 style 13b Large Extend port. (R5 outer plates a S3 12a centreplate)
Autostyle Automotives long priamary exhaust & and race headers with handmade mufflers (3).
StuBer carby (build #1) on a heavily modded RX-4 13b inlet manifold.
1 ton dikain billet steel pressure plate and brass button clutch.
New clutch master and slave cylinders.
ASK billet steel lightend flywheel.
2 x 10" Davies Craig thermo fans and thermo switch
S1 3 core radiator and Oil cooler Conversion
Cold Air Induction & K&N filter
Replaced fuseable links to fuse box
Club car style rear wing.
Solex locks, Alarm System
Saas Steering wheel

Stezza

__ 6" infinty spilts, Boston Neo tweeters Soundstream SPL12 subwoofer.
__ 3 RF series Rockford Fosgate amps, sony head unit (colour coded), Alpine Sub level controller, Jaycar/Dick Smith Cabeling,
__ Oddesy battery, custom fiberglass sub box, Flash-Tac deadend doors.

Suspension

__ Pedders VRD shocks all round.
__ Pedders Sports ryder coils all round.
__ Super pro poly bushes through out (except rear upper arms).
__ Don Selby 25mm front sway bar.
__ Modifided front lower control arms.
__ Removed rear sway bar.

And my lastest mod... Lenso 17 x7" rims (i got them today!!)

upcoming mods:

__ gearbox rebuild,
__ some sort of brake work,
__ 4.4:1 Guru Torque Biasing Diff center (finaly) :o
__ maybe a colour change / respray
__ Roll cage & interior mods (carpet, maybe some seats)

after all that ive ended up with this

not bad considering ive had a few "Set backs" this year

and another rim shot..

I love it!

The rims look sweet and I like the contrasting black on the spoiler.

ive only got the wing for downforce when i do my track days..
I mosly likey will take it off when i respray the car, as i dont like it that much myself. But for some reason i hate colour coded wings on red or white 1st gen's!!!
every other colour i prefer them color coded, weird huh???

i also wish the strips on the bumpers were black too to break up the colour a bit more... one day i will fix it.

heres some more pics....

front strut and swaybar

subox and amp rack

Yes thats a back seat

my (true) race headers

i will get more (better) pics soon

the spoiler is based on one of the factory mazda ones, over here they call it a "club car" style as most car club racing used them... (there classed as being too big now)

many playes over here have them but i do belive mazdatrix has one the same if not close to that one on there website

the rims were a lucky find,,,, i was looking for tyres for my stock rims when i came across an advert for them yesterday

well there's not much too them... 2 (1 on each primary) are 2" id perforated stainless tube with a 3" outer tube and stuffed with some high quality grade of stainless steel wool

the rear muffler is basically the same but a 2 1/2" ID perf tube and a much bigger outer piece (mild steels this time) it is packed in a special way though, to which I'm sworn to secrecy. its free flowing and not too loud ( almost legal lol)
I can get some pics soon for you.

they were made by Rohan Ambrose from Autostyle Automotives who is also the brains behing (www.gurumotorsports.com)

The headers on my car are and old set from his race car and were on it when he broke several lap records around Australia

its a fully moded 12a nikki carby... modded proberly!!!
sort of like the Paul Yaw ones you guys get in the States

It's got huge chokes, re-jetteted to suit and a whole new linkage setup that opens all 4 butterflies exactly together (NOT mechanical 2nd's!!) lots of other little mods too..

It does the job great!!
I can cruise in 5th gear at 1000RPM without jecking ect... no flat spots whatsoever any where in the rev range, great throttle response (as good as a weber!!) and revs easly to 9000RPM (and beyond) without runing lean or running out of air!

Very cool. Got any links to let us investigate, or do I have to hop on a plane and come down there to check it out?

there's a brief page of info on my website (link below) or the direct link HERE
Stuart is currently making 3-4 StuBer's a week and only does them after hours...

They would be pretty cheap for you USA guys as the Aussie dollor is worthless , but im not sure if Stuart is prepared to send them oversea's

Nice, mate, very nice. More than nice - way nice. I'm not a fan of the "new" wheel styles - but I really like yours. Beautiful. Never understood the back seats, couldn't fit a Koala in there if you wanted to!

Edit: Oh yeah, I f'got... I like the spoiler (wing). Adds style, looks great. Makes the difference between "plain Jane" and "hot"... immho!

You don't happen to have a shot of that spoiler from the rear, do you? For whatever reason I kind of like that one and I don't think I've ever seen a spoiler on a 1st gen that I've actually liked.

Nice ride, man.

um total cost well i'm lucky i picked up alot of stuff cheap and at trade price, but if i had paid retail and still got the other bargins i did (engine, rims, wing) it would add up to about AUS $11,000 including the 5k the car cost

whats the going price AUD on that wing?
umm i think there about 250 bux??? i got this one for 50bux from a mate who had a S1 for a parts car.

the centre opening on mine was smaller so ive cut it open to improve the air flow quite a bit.. it still needs a fair bit of workbefore its ready to paint
