My car starts!!

My 85 GSL has not run since september of 2006, and it was starting to make me sad

Lately I've been trying to get it running, with no luck, I bought a new energizer 875 cca battery in hopes of starting, NO LUCK!!... but... as learnt from this forum, a cap-full of oil down each primary barrel did the trick!

I love how my friends/family can't wrap their mind around how a rotary engine works, they think it is complete madness to put anything down the carb but gas..

I noticed it turned over REALLY fast after the oil, and fired to life, and that just made my whole day.. I haven't heard my rotary music in the longest time, and I feel I just had to post how it went

Another suprising thing, it was about -20 C out!!

Hah. So wait... you let someone else, a non-rotorhead, look at your car?

sometimes its just easier to have him do things sometimes, like properly inflate my tires, top off the washer fluid, things like that. besides, hes the one who looked after it while i was overseas. he does fairly well when given detailed, written instructions.

Run a can of Seafoam through the gas tank along with about 1/8 - 1/4 tank of gas. This will help clean out any nastiness that might have built up inside the motor/carb over the years. It's also a good idea to do this every few months to maintain proper seal movement and good compression...
