Unhappy my car isn't level.... advice?

Ever since I bought the car back in april the car has never sat level. The passenger side sits higher then the driver side..
I thought after I lowered it, replaced the shocks/struts, and the rear end I thought by now it would sit level.

Now since I got all this new found power, the car's stance is driving me nuts! I can't figure out for the life of me why it doesn't sit level.

Anyone have any ideas?!?!?!!?

Tonight I actully messured the difference and the passenger side sits about 3/4" higher then the driver side.

Now I never met the orginal owner but I'm only 5'8" at 145 pounds so I know it's not me sagging the driver side.

the car hasn't been in any frame damaging accidents... (only one... where I rear ended an audi.. but that's a differen't story and I fixed my car)

thanks,
matt

When you replaced the shocks and struts did you also replace the springs?

From 1984 Workshop Manual

"Body Tilt" = Worn coil spring or worn stabilizer and suspension arm installation bushing.

But if you've just replaced shocks/ springs etc, download this attachment and see it it helps...

When I replaced the struts and shocks... yes I replaced the springs...

T.j. - LOL - I love it when my friends ride in it... it rides even.. Yeah

zookeeper-
And I replaced the springs, struts, shocks about 5 months ago.
Thanks for that scan, the manual that I have has nothing like that in it. Where do I get the adjusting plates? Do I put the plates on the side that is lower or higher?

thanks,
matt

Welcome to the world of the 1st gens perverbial " I got my passenger side up higher than the other side"..! Dunno why they all if not most of them do this. My theory is because of the Watts linkage not being centered...anyone?
As I posted in another thread a fix would be to cut an additional dead coil off the spring on that side, but you're not running the 125 and plus# Eibach race springs and coil overs up front with 175# and up spring rates. With enough fabrication we can have a NASCAR style coilover rear suspension and get the car absolutely level. Then cornerweight it for true balance in handling.
*I look my car.. then look in my wallet...I just jump in and drive*

when i got my gs the rear end had hit a curb so hard it was 1 1/4 inches shifted over to the driver side. i fixed it and it drove better but now it seems the paseenger side is handing down so i replace the complete suspension to find some shims under the from driver side coil over.

My car has the exact same thing - passenger side slightly higher. I've got some RB springs coming my way though, so I'm hoping to resolve the issue

Put it on the low side and the link for Mazdatrix that FD Racer gave ya is a good one. $13.50 + Shipping... Not bad.

already ordered a couple... so I should get them in a day or so and hopefully it'll even it out... but I so hate pulling out the struts.. ughh

Silver Rocket - Like i said in my orginal post.. the car was like that even with the orginal springs, so I don't know if just swapping spring will help it..

In the future I plan to do a full ITS setup with caster/camber plates, 2 1/2" ID springs, coil overs, Rear 175in/lbs springs, tokico's, sway bars...

Have you checked to see if your rear sway bar is bent? That's how I found out why one side of my car was higher then the other.

My car does it in the rear - I'm convinced it's some kind of binding in the rear suspension as it is uneven only some of the time. I run tokico blues and tmc springs, no rear swaybar.

Mine does this occasionally AND my front end sags. It's time for a new suspension.

I took my rear sway bar out... I like the handling of the car with-out, it's a bit more predictable, still tail happy tho the way I like it, so it can't be that.

I'll find out tommorow when I get the adjustment plates and so forth

Could this be because the fuel tank is left of center on these cars?

Yeah, saggy front end isn't appealing to anyone

Sorry... I'll go back into my hole again....

Problem fixed... Got the spacers and put both of them on driverside and the car is nice and level now... Now I was looking at it and I feel I want to go lower...

How many coils is it safe to cut out of the suspension tech. springs before handling is comprmised?

and the battery, the driver, steering setup. it all works towards your disadvantage.

you think mazda would purposly try to make the passenger side heaier because 8 out of 10 the owner is solo when driving or racing

greetings,

i like this post! this is an issue with my car too. i ask about a lot of things on this site but i figured my sagging problem was due to my very bad and ancient suspension. i was hoping to rectify it when i upgrade parts this winter. but after reading the posts here, we shall see...as for me i really notice the sagging when i jack up the car: passenger side wheel is in the air, driver's side touches down when raising the car by the cross member!

My right rear quarter sits up about 1/2" to 3/4" higher than the left. I have all new shocks and Eibach springs too. When I installed my new suspension I also installed a GSL rear axle at the time. I wonder if I had a full tank of gas in the car when I torqued the trailing links and watts links thus putting a "set" in the way it sits. Just a thought......

To add to this discussion....when I have a FULL tank of gas, my car never does that "side-saddle" stance.

Mazda did make it heavier on the passenger side
Think "home land"
