My car breaks them loose in 3 gears!
Is this typical of first gens? I can seriously smoke them in three gears. Fourth will chirp if i over-rev before shifting. Just curious...

any sudjestions on a clutch? I got power but cant get it to the pavement. All my friends are like "don't fix it" but drifting into the kroger parking lot screaming the tires completely sideways is getting old and a lot of 5-0 attention!

my suggestion is stop driving like a maniac. I can bark mine in three gears. It doesn't mean I DO everytime I shift or remotely close. I barked it in second yesterday because a friend was riding in my car that also has a rx7 and asked me how mine was running.
Most of the time, I am shifting around 3k. My car is 23 years old afterall.

Rutnik- "but drifting into the kroger parking lot screaming the tires completely sideways is getting old and a lot of 5-0 attention!" was an exageration I was trying to make you laugh. But ROto I am running rb, headers, custom 3" exhaust, stainless cat, holley carb, 10.3mm wire msd blasters and 205/60/13 avids, no smog check my sig below for others i forgot to mention here.

I think something is wrong with my SE. Used to be able to bark hard into second, but never into third. That was bone stock. Now with the Mindtrain exhaust, 15" wheels, Tokico blues and RB springs, it hardly ever chirps into second at all, let alone third. The clutch was replaced this summer with a new OEM unit. The master cylinder was also replaced, but my car will not spin the tires in first, nor will it chirp to second at all. I'm thinking it's a clutch hydraulics problem, but **** do I ever wanna get it fixed. It's not like I'd lose to a 12A car or anything like that, but it just doesn't seem right. The car also seems not to pull hard at all in first or second, but then in third it goes great. Man do I ever need to clean out my DEI chamber and throttle body. Demz 6ports might be stickin too. Anyway, sorry for the rant, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them. Thanks.

Something to think about is that power is not measured by how much rubber you grab in each gear! If you're concerned about overall performance, and chassis dyno will tell you more about what your car is doing, and aside from that a 0-60 run at your local deserted, remote, roadway will tell you more about what's going on that trying to squeal tires in all 5 gears.
I found that with my 80LS, I was able to bark them in 3 gears, but this was with 13" wheels, 185/70 tires, and on a rubber coated dragstrip.
The SE's additionally have the LSD to contend with that will specifically PREVENT spinning one tire that usually exhibits itself as 'chirping' gears. This is a factor of the SE getting more power down to the ground, which equates to ACCELERATION. Any sounds that you hear are the abundance of power that's not doing anything.
Remember in physics that the most efficient engine wouldn't vibrate, wouldn't get hot, wouldn't get cold, and wouldn't make any noise when shifting gears.

I dont what to get power down. I want smoke and to go round and round. I have some mud tires that I am going to try on stock rims. Hopefully they will let me have fun.

Some things I'm not seeing in this thread are tire diameter and differential ratio.
Even width is gonna make a difference. Pressure, all of it.
A one inch tire diameter increase can give you a patch of rubber 15 inches squared additional on a 185 tire. (roughly three inches extra tread by 5 inches wide).
That's more area to grip. Kind of makes me appreciate top fueler power as compared to my car!
