My buddy won the lotto!

My buddy is a UPS driver and durning one of his stops saw an FB sitting on the lawn and asked if it was for sale. The owner said get it off my lawn before the weekend is over and you can have it for free... It had sat for at least 5 years that we know of.

2 hours with a power washer and this is damn near perfect!

What a find - keep the narrative going as he digs into it. Happy to see that thing back on the road soon!

Before I even saw it, he described it to me and I offered him $1,000 for it. He shot me down. I upped it to $1,500 and was rejected. It came without a title, since I own a dealership I can help him get ABA papers to register it, it just has to sit on my lot for 90 days. I told him if he doesn't act right I'll just screw him over and ABA it to myself. (If only he wasn't my best friend, I'd have an awesome FB.)

A few stress cracks where the wing was molded into the rear quarter, a some rust spots on the front wiper cowl, but other that that mint.

There's compression and spark, but the carbs are no where to be found. We got it to crank over but not fire... This idiot wants to LS swap it. I FORBID him, since I'm helping him get a title. I flat out said if you're swapping a motor, than use one of my old non-turbo 13B's laying around.

As the owner of a swapped 85 GSL I would never swap this car with anything but another rotary, push him to go with an agressive streetport 13b

Maybe not even an aggressive streetport 13B. Do what I did and go blow through Nikki with a 74 port.

Sweet ride either way, the v8/wankel battle will never end I'm sure....I guess it depends if you want a silly fun car even when it gets cold out😁 I've had both, just prefer v8's. I don't want to jack his thread....the best part about his car is that he gets to do whatever he wants to it. Nice find, congrats!👍🏼

You would agree though that this car is special right? Lets not swap out the truly unique part of the car that makes it special. If you want a v8 car, buy a camaro.

9/10 "V8 swap" rx7 builds are never even finished and just end up a cobbled together mess of parts and a butchered shell.

Theres few enough of these cars at 30 years old driving around anyways. Lets not take one with such potential and turn it into an "unfinished product".

Like I said, that debate could go on for ever. Sorry to hurt your feelings. It is a sweet car, we live in free countries and personally think it would be special with a well executed v8 swap but all that matters is it's special for the owner. Love the wheels by the way! Good luck with the car!

Check the 1st Gen Classified section! I just made a post about the car, waiting for a mod to approve it. It MIGHT be for sale, read the post. If I can't find a place to park it till I have time to work on it then it's being sold "BEST OFFER."

I do NOT want this car to end up in a junkyard, but (I own 30% of the shop, my boss (my pops) wants to close the storage lot where it's sitting) if I can't find a place (cheap) to store it, it just might. I'll be pissed that I have to sell it, but at least I know it will go to a good home.

What a shame to have to sell. Did you ever end up getting a title for the car?

Nice knowing ya... so sad you'll need to be going so soon...

The center caps on those rims are near-unobtanium...
