My 85 supercharged 12a project! It's Alive!!
I ended up getting video of it, but came out with no sound, so pics are all you get. Until I get a camera.
It was wonderful, started up on the second crank. I adjusted the carb per Rotary Shack's Robert advise and the fuel per Hyper4mance2k advice, and it idles great at 1k. I have yet to adjust timing, along with water methanol injection problems. The boost port on the charger sucks not blows, so it's not activating my boost switch. Also the idiot lights stay on due to the new alternator, so I have to troubleshoot that also.
It has a very distinct scream on throttle. I'm loving it so far. I took it out for a spin and stalled it on first gear infront of neighbors that came out to see Didn't go far because it started to rain, and i'm not driving it in the rain. Damn rain!
Since the rain and the time put all testing on hold, I tidied up all the wiring harnesses. All my added wiring are installed with oem plugs. No splicers! And covered in black loom with the vehicles harness. Looks great and looks like it was there from factory. The wiring mess by the battery I painstakinly took apart and hid most of it under the battery tray. Very clean!
My water methanol tank from an Acura came out very good, better than I expected. A little trimming was all that was needed. I noticed that the original wiper fluid tank has a low water float and sends signal to the cluster. Just what I needed! So I removed it from the original tank, drilled a hole on the bottom of the acura tank, and ran it's wires all the way to it's new location. So when i'm low on fluid I will know on my cluster. For a triple hitter, my w/m pump sits higher than the fluid tank, so gravity is not on my side here. The Acura tank has 2 fluid motors built to the tank. They make great priming pumps for my w/m pump.
I guess that's enough reading huh?
Thanks to everyone here who has helped me get to this point in my RX-7 life. It's a big list and you know who you are! I couldn't of done it with out your guidance and knowledge.

Lol, no problem. Numbers I don't know. Once I get it dialed in I will take it to a local dyno just to see what it does. I'm sure it will be fast enough for me. I'm not planning on racing it or anything. Just for fun and a hobby.
Video will be soon.

Nice job Kim! It IS a nice sound isn't it? I'm impressed that you got it to idle so low. I haven't been able to consistently get mine to idle lower than about 1300. What pulley are you using? I have a -11 on it now, and want to try an 8 and a 9 to see what kind of boost I get from them. My gauge reads 3 - 4 pounds with the -11, but I need to double check that with a mechanical gauge because I know these gauages I got aren't too accurate (my fuel pressure gauge reads 8psi while a mechanical gauge reads 6).
Anyway, great job...I know you'll love it!

Excellent work...you may have given me even more motivation to pull my spare 12a out and build it for the supercharger. I am very curious to see the numbers and the videos.

An amazingly unique and incredibly well done project. Congrats on getting it running.
You've got to find a way to get video w/ sound once you work out all the little kinks.
And heck, I'd *pay* to see that thing's dyno graph, I've never seen one for a supercharged 12a.

^^ Hehehe, that's funny. LOL
I love you guys! Thanks!
Well I just took it out for a looong spin. I'm happy to inform that with the Taurus fan, s4 water pump, any heating issues associated with the charger are not yet a problem. Temp stood right before the middle after warming up and during spirited runs without water /methanol injection.
For some reason any vacuum port that I use is not activating the boost switch, so I just wired up a toggle switch. Doing 80mph I turned on the w/m injection. Did not feel any diference, will have to test when summer gets here.
I know i'm in the break in so I didn't want to go over the limit, but I did floor it and it bogged. Not to the point that it wanted to shut off, but like it needed more fuel. So it's "back to the lab"
Rich, i'm running the 7 pulley. Believe it or not, right now I got it idling at 900rpm! And it's smooth like stock with a fine pitched blower sound that picks up when you hit the gas! I couldn't believe it myself. I was expecting high rpm's. I'm on 5psi fuel, but that could possibly change when I play around with the carb to settle the WOT bogging.
I got ready to deal with tons of issues once I got it running, but all I got is a fine running RX-7. What's wrong? this can't be right!
