My 1st RX-7 i need a fuel pump I think

OK guys,

I just bought my first RX-7 last Wednesday. The car had been sitting in a storage unit for four years. So I did most of the things I read on this board.
Did the atf treatment let is sit for 4 days before touch the ignition key. changed the plugs, bought a battery and new battery cables. Rebuilt the clutch master and slave cylinders. Will bleed the brakes once I can get it to the garage.
I ran into one problem. That I need help with. I can get the car to turn over and run with gas poured in to the carb. It wll run till that gas is gone. I turn the key to the on position and I can hear a buzzing sound I believe it is the fuel pump. I disconnected the fuel line on the carb that is closest to the firewall and put the end of it in a soda can that I had finished with. Turned the key got nothing. Oh yeah there is gas in the tank and its fresh. I went to the auto store today and picked up a clear fuel filter. installed it and proceeded to to provide negative pressure to the fuel line (sucked on the line) to pull the fuel from the tank thru the fuel line. I stoped when the I could see the fuel in the filter and before I got a mouthfull. Jumped in the car turned the key and the gas just went back down the line. So, Im about 99% sure that the fuel pump has crapped out. Just wanted a second opinion and wanted to know what is a good pump to get.

Sounds reasonable except what year rex is it? That's important because if it's an 84-85, the fuel pump will not start pumping until the car is started. It's a safety feature.

If it's an 80 then turning the key to the on position should start the pump a run'n. Sounds like you might need a new pump or at least check the electrical connections. Good luck!
