The passenger side new regulator worked! My window is now perfect. I had to move back my front runner to the stock bolt hole to get it to work properly. Now that whole door is done. I just have to let the window runner break in a bit.

I put in a new radiator from radiatorexpress.com today. I wasnt thrilled with the quality, but it was ok. I paid about $142 but the invoice taped to the box said $79.99. Thats quite a profit they make from drop shipping. Not to mention the styrafoam in the box was all crushed and rendered useless. I wouldnt say this is a reflection on radiatorexpress.com themselves, they just farm this stuff out.

So the side bars didnt line up quite right so I had to file them out a bit to get the bolts back in.

The biggest pain, the new radiator has a small size cap!! I already bought an expensive large OEM cap from Mazdatrix that I can't use now. I have to find out how I will determine the correct cap to use now..

I got everything reassembled, but i lost the mini hose thats right on top of the throttle body. I'll have to rig one, I dont want to wait another week.

The bad news is I still have an oil leak which looks like the oil pan, but could be futher back on the tranny. That determines I have to sell this. I cannot put any more money into it, I am over $1200 into it now in addition to the $2500 I paid. Oil leaks are my least favorite problem to deal with.

Its perfectly drivable as is, and i might drive it a few weeks for fun. But I am super **** about oil leaks and it will bother me every day with the stains. I dont want to do the oil pan just to find out its a rear main or something later.

Talking

I got her running today. New hoses and radiator are great, no coolant leaks. But.. I now hear the throwout bearing.. so it needs a clutch soon. It still drives and shifts perfectly though, and the clutch feels tight. So, I advertised it for sale. If I can't get what I want for it, I'll put a new clutch in it and keep it a while. Think I can get a clutch job done for about $400?

anyway, I finally have pics to show now..

I priced some estimates for a clutch job so i can make up my mind.

Parts came to about $300, including clutch disc and cover, TO bearing, pilot bearing and seal, front/rear trans seals, engine rear main, new pivot fork, front tranny cover and gasket..

I got a quote from a shop I trust for about 5 hours work which is $475.

I just don't know if I want to put another $800 into this car at this time..

The oil leak is so small it isnt worth mentioning. The throwout is a much larger issue.

I removed my ebay ad. I just can't sell it to someone without them seeing it first. I was getting questions from all over the states. Last thing I want is someone buying something they didn't really want and me being stuck in a huge fight. I'll either sell local or keep it. I have a couple Craigslist people that have to come see it already.

I have my new drivers window parts arriving in a couple days, all same stuff i did to my passenger side. Another $250... I guess I'll end up driving this for a few months since I didnt get much interest at all on Craiglist. Just one guy came to drive it, and a few others made me stupid offers.

dammit i double posted up there...

but.. the more i drive this car the more i like it. I just found my accelerator cable wasnt opening my throttle fully, little too much slack. I do have a couple more people looking at it this week, but i wont be too sad if i end up keeping it. I'll get a rebuilt tranny and clutch in there to cut down on all the gear noise, and just drive it. It cruises 80mph real nice, and has power from there when needed.

Ordered 2 door seals today to complete my door area.

Stuff today:
-Put a bolt back in my seat slider which was missing, seat is now secure.
-Put a missing bolt back in side mirror to secure it properly.
-Found out I have motorized side mirrors, never knew!
-Tried to fix my rear wiper with no luck. Fuse is good. Doesnt work.
-Tightened my rubber antenna a bit
-Found little bit of moisture in back of my clutch master at pedal, will have that done when i get my tranny/clutch job done.
-Removed my Craigslist ad, gotta keep it. It's too fun to drive.

Interior really looks pretty good. Maybe get a steering wheel cover. Or you could probably find a better condition one in the classifieds or on eBay...

I saw a better steering wheel at one of the PnPs a couple weeks ago.

I put a $50 Grant aftermarket 330mm wheel on the 85GSL so as to get more room between my left knee and the door handle. Works fine with PS. My SE has no PS so the larger wheel is useful, so I just removed the pull handle.

Oil leak

I don`t know how familiar you are with RX-7s but I`ve noticed nearly all leak a little oil from the external oil pump...

ya i want to get that wheel replaced soon. probably aftermarket. but i want it straightened first, via an alignment.

today i got my rear speakers installed and working. The rear wires were cut I found out. Under the storage bin. Never could find the other half of the cut end so i ran fresh wire to the two rear speakers.

So I put 4" pioneers into the front, and 6.5" pioneers into the rear. I had to drill new mounting holes in the rear for them. Probably isnt even flush, but this was just to give me some sound. I've had plenty of high end car audio and I'm not interested anymore.

Oh, and I checked my idler arm bushings today. I was going to install the brown ones I got from Mazdatrix. But when I got it apart I saw some blue ones. They were in perfect condition, obviously recently replaced. So on the small chance that they were some better ones than the browns, I left them in.

Finally got to take some pics of a job, usually I'm too busy to bother.

Here are my old door seals, and then my new killer ones installed.

Install was 10-12 mins for each door.

I gotta figure out a choke/idle issue now. Lot of times my idle doesnt come down to normal after warm up. Also, the idle wanders 200rpm when im stopped sometimes. up and down, up and down.. I'll start some searching around here to see what kind of sensors are involved.

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. Look for a loose hose first. Like the thread!

Found some stuff, I'll post a few pictures in a few mins. First off, my clamp was loose at the hose attachment to the air flow meter. I forgot to tighten it back in my work a month ago. Just in case that effected it. I found no vacuum leaks at all, by spraying elec cleaner on all the connection points. (old method i learned). i also sprayed on the intake manifold connection point and no change in idle.

I rmoved my main intake hose with two 12mm nuts and checked my throttle body, its all clean, no gunk.

I then looked at my TPS, no idea if its working or not. I know that at idle, I can push that plunger further in, and the idle drops too low.

I saw a stopper on right near the firewall which the throttle stops against. It looks like a vacuum bell and has a movable insert in it. But.. it has no connection?? Seems strange.

I'll get some pics.

Yep,

CC cable missing a nut. That other thing does not use an electrical or vacuum connection. It is the dashpot. It simply keeps the throttle from slamming shut too quickly when you release the throttle.

That TPS behavior sounds normal. There is a simple adjustment in the archives. This will ensure that it is working and is adjusted correctly.
