its fanfuckingtastic dude, i like it a lot. ....would you mind giving me a ballpark estimate of all you've spent so far on just the turbo set up? (intake/exhaustmanifold, turbo, piping, etc.) i'm starting to research on turbo'ing my own car so i'm just wanting to see about how much i'd be needing to save up lol.

So far.

Manifold $450.00
Carb , carb hat and intake manifold $650.00
Turbocharger $450.00
Intercooler Free - old turbo del sol project
Oil lines feed and drain with fittings $100.00
Racing beat oil filter pedestal $64.00
intercooler piping $150.00

total so far $1,864.00

Have not ordered a fuel pump or regulator yet I'm gonna order the mallory units from racing beat

And I'm doing all the work myself so that helps cut the cost alot
Not sure how much it cost to do a TII swap but I'm sure Ill be close to that . My goal was to do this cheaper than that

Almost There!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Installed the racing beat type II oil filter sandwich tonight . And used one of the ports for my oil feed , and the other houses my oil psi sender for my pro comp gauge . Got the piping mocked up also from the turbo over to the carb inlet (temp setup till I get a intercooler) . Tomorrow I'm going to drill the front cover or the oil pan (haven't decided yet) for the turbo drain . Will also finish wiring my pro comp gauges . Hopefully I'll be able to hear it run this weekend

That blow off valve is temporary to that color is too for me

Looking very awesome, sir!

By the way, I don't know what it would cost to ship from Ohio, but if you've no use for your stock exhaust headpipe (first section, behind the thermal reactor, in front of the heat exchanger), it could find a happy home with me...

Drill and tap the front cover for the drain... I would even do it lower than you see in this pic if I had to do it again http://rx7learner.pictiger.com/images.

Does that I/C pipe going over the carb clear the hood like evil_motors asked.

Maybe just notch both sides of the radiator braces so that you can run the pipe out in front of the rad if it doesnt fit. This way when you get an I/C it could be as easy dropping it in. My NPR is just sitting in the cradle the notches made and it's rock solid.

Sorry you answered about the pipe as I posted.

Terrific! PM me a pic or two and what you might want for it, and your zip code... I'll pull my old one off and weigh it, find out how costly to ship it might be.

It Runs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I got to drive it tonight . But it cuts out at half throttle , I'm contributing that to the still stock fuel pump , And it's only a open downpipe right now so it is FREAKING LOUD

dude are you using stock internals? my friend who used to own a first gen tubo told me that he would chew up the seals every 4-6 months, so he just went and bought low compression rotors, if you are then i think you can run low boost like 6-7 pounds without harming it, but tell me how it goes dude real intrested in doing this myself, looks good though

Chewing up seals every 4-6 months sounds liek something else is going on in that motor

Sure does sound like something else is going on.

1979rx-7 ... I had a similar issue. I made a home grown leak tester from a can of soup and ran my air compressor hose into it. Turned up the air pressure and used soapy water to find the leaks.

Found that the checkball covers on my mikuni were leaking slightly and the jet cover was leaking slightly. I drilled and tapped a 1/4 20 stud for the mikuni jet cover to hold it down solid... and sealed the other screws.

The amazing thing was that once sealed it resolved transition issues from idle jets to main. No combination of jetting was successful... the only fix was being completely sealed. It also nailed me down to 11 afrs under boost where as before it didnt.

Just a thought. Good Luck.

WAIT!!! didnt see the stock FP comment.... that would be my 1st priority before boosting.

From: here, where ever that is.
I noticed you called the carb an IDA, when in fact you have a dcoe. Its looking good though. Let me know that you do to keep your jet cover from leaking though. I got a feeling that the way mine sits now wont work. I have just the stock gaskets in place know. But Im betting on that not working once it starts seeing boost.

Ok well I pulled it into my cousins shop this morning and put his fuel pressure gauge on it 4psi at idle holds steady , 3.5 psi at 3000rpm's holds steady , So I'm starting to think it's a ignition problem . Ignition is stock traling coil , FC main coil

Forgot here is a video of it running
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exbdr06h77M

I just viewed that video on youtube and its really dark for some reason?
