Multiplying odometer

for some reason my odometer is going at about 4x what ive travelled. this year it says ive done about 60,000 km
when ive hardly done 15,000.
the resetable trip timer runs fine its just the odometer..

anyone know what this would be?

Faulty odometer. They should both be controled by the same input, so if the trip works fine, and the odometer is haywire, there's something internal that's gone bad. My suggestion is to just let it alone or replace the cluster. Since the milage is all ready way off, there's really no reason to replace the cluster.

Kinda strange... They are basicly driven by the same gears. If the speedo works right, and the tripmeter is ok aswell, I can't imagine how the odometer goes so wrong. It could stop working, if the final gear breaks or something. But 4x times as fast... that's something I never heared of before.
