muffler choice

Question muffler choice

I just put on a new Racing Beat header and presliencer on my 79 12-a. it sounds like crap with the stock muffler so I am going to buy a new one. Has anybody had any experiences with the Power Pluse from Racing Beat? or the Monza muffler that is offered by Black Dragon. They are about the same price and I need to decide. I want the car to have a deeper sound. Thanks for any advise

if you wanta deeper sound go with magnaflow or a Borla muffler....WARNING ...they will be loud but have a very nice deep tone.

RB mufflers are super stout and last nearly forever.
They are expensive and a little heavy,but nothing lasts longer.
Dont expect it to be loud,even with headers and no cat it will be muted and quiet.If you want a little more sound and dont mind sourcing a dual mid-pipe from an 81-82 car,then the RacingBeat Street Port version of the same muffler has bigger piping and a little more tone.
I run one on my streetport 13BT running 14psi out of a TO4B.Its plenty quiet when cruising and howls like a jet engine at full boost.And dont believe anyone that says they are restrictive.I push some 300hp through mine with no issues after 6 years of daily driving. Sure.....a 3" DynoMax or Borla might flow even better than the RB,but they are also 500% louder.

The Monza is pure crap,no matter who sells it.Dont waste your money on JUNK that is a poor attempt to copy the RB.The RB muffler has ZERO high frequency buzz because its made of thickwall steel and has lots of packing due to its size.They are made in Italy,to very high standards.

Please do a search with the term muffler, or exhaust or exhaust system. Also can use the term borla/magnaflow/racing beat,etc..

These muffler/exhaust threads are getting exhausting. :-)
