MSD Question, running two

I am going to be running two msd's on my 79 first gen. If i run two, I dont have to use any of my factory ignition system, right. I just wanted to make sure. I got kind of confused at first because I didnt know what to do with all the extra wires on my factory harness. Anyone else do this? Everywhere i search, everybody is just running one box.

No! You still need to run the trailing spark through the dizzy.

Yeah just two MSD's won't work for leading and trailing.

1 set up as a direct fire system on the leading, and 1 running through the distributer for the trailing. If you had the crank angle sensor such as the 2nd gens then you already have direct fire. In this case you run one for the leading and one for each trailing totaling 3. Alot of boxes though and a little overkill.

this is the way i got em on my old car

My distributor is setup so the msd's plug right into them. I dont want to have to open my distributor up and try to mess with it. I dont really like messing with wires. I dont have the direct fire setup by the way.
