Motor mount going out...

Just wanting a quick run down of the R/R of a motor mount on these cars. DO you just loosen the bolts and jack the car by the crank pulley? Or is it OK to use the oil pan?

Also where is the best place to buy a motor mount? I don't want anything performance here just an OEM unit.

thanks...

You should be able to get the mounts at any local parts store (autozone, o'reiley, etc.), they'll probably have to order it, but you save on shipping, and get it in the same time.

Ideally, you lift the engine with a engine hoist. I wouldn't reccomend lifting by the crank pulley, or the oil pan, as you will probably damage something.

Some fellow forum member might have one or two laying around after an upgrade to competition motor mounts. I'd sell you mine for real cheap, but I need them for another project.

Use a floor jack and a piece of wood to jack up on the oil pan. NEVER try to lift the engine on the pulley.

Loosen the 14mm nut on the bottom and top of each motor mount. Then break the 4 front cover bolts loose a little. Then jack up on the oil pan to relieve the weight on the mounts. Then remove all four bolts in the front cover, and the nuts on top of the motor mounts. Remove the front mount plate steel thing (whatever it's called). Now you have access to the motor mounts themselves. Remove the nuts from below and be careful not to loose the lock washers or flat washers.

There is a J hole on one side. Be sure to place the motor mount at the bottom of the J... I think. Look at the old dirty mark on the back of your motor mount to determine where it was in the J slot. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get that far. Installation is the reverse of the removal process.
