Thumbs up motor install is finally materializing!

had this FB for well over a year, it was parked 6 years before i got it... tried to throw in a stock 12A, the motor leaked and burned oil faster than i could pour it in, so out came the 12A... picked up this 85 GSL-SE engine for 250 bux from a bud(long block, but lower intake manifold was broken), and tore it down, turned out it overheated, and water had filled the rear rotor... center cast iron needed replacing, so i replaced it with a 12A center iron... ported the motor myself, then had atkins build it, since i was wary of building one after building my repu's motor 3 times and each time it failed... all this has led up to now, over a year since i bought the car for 300 dollars... its a 84 GSL, it had red interior, but i hated it, so i've been swapping it to grey... the motor has been built for quite a few months but i didn't have the facilities to install it... now that i've moved i have a driveway with an overhang, and i was able to borrow an engine stand and a engine hoist... so over the last week or so i've been prepping everything, i want it to go perfectly... getting stuff cleaned up real nice, i even disassembled my water pump, took out my dremel, and completely cleaned it inside and out... got the air filter setup, got the new radiator(got that today!!) and got the motor actually in the car on wednesday... this was the easiest install of the motor i've done yet(as far as mating it to the transmission...) got it in in probly half an hour of work, and now the transmissions completely mated and bolted in... install the starter tomorrow, the belts, tighten down the spark plugs, install the oil cooler, install the plug wires, charge up the battery, bolt down the carb, put the clamps on the radiator hoses,. install the throttle cable bracket, etc etc, still got some work to do... but yeah heres a pic

edit: special thanks goes to dan atkins, he has been a tremendous help in getting me all the parts i need to go through with this...

That's pretty cool. I'm at a similar stage in my install. I've got a broken oil cooler hanger to deal with which is keeping me from installing it and the radiator, and I have a bigger fuel pump to install. Then I've gotta fab an exhaust system.

My engine took about a half hour to install too. It more or less went right in. My personal best is 5 minutes from hanging on the engine crane to mated to the tranny and all the bellhousing bolts finger-tight. I didn't feel like scratching any paint (lol) so I took it easy this time.
