RotorMotorDriver-

I like the old style aluminum slots. Good clean sets are getting scarce in four bolt patterns. But I found some. They would fit on an SE, but, of course, I have a GS.
I had to do some creative machining. If you don't have knowhow and access to a lathe, then it's "to the drawing board" time, followed by a trip to the machine shop.

You might need to make hub adapters. The cool thing is you wind up with studs instead of bolts.

I wish I could offer you more advice. But I just wanted to let you know you're not the only one!

BTW, never neglect just how important precision measuring is in ******* around with wheel adapters n' such. If there's a hint of doubt about the saftey of the set-up, then it's not safe enough!
Just be careful.

Dont oval out the holes, redrill them in a different place... It will be a lot stronger like that, and anyone who says it isnt , hasnt seen uni lug wheels, they have a lot of holes in them you dont use...

After this long discussion about bolt patterns and such, I thought I'd draw up some 4x110 to 4x114.3 wheel adapters of my own and see how they looked. I'm sort of an aspiring amateur mechanical engineer (i'll eventually be a professional), and I just thought I'd post the renderings, and see what you guys think. The bolts used to attach the adapters to the existing hub are in blue, and the red bolts are full-thread 18-8 stainless steel 50mm M14 (correct me if this isn't the thread used for lugs, so I can correct the drawing) cap screws from McMaster-Carr Industrial Supply. The adapter itself is 25mm thick, so if i'm not mistaken, you'd end up having to use 50mm offset rims if you put these on an S/GS/GSL. Again, correct me if I'm mistaken on the exact dimensions. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

error402: yeah, i know adapters are already made, but I'd rather do 'em myself, 'cause I do have access to a lathe, and a mill with an indexing table. i just wanted to know if any of you out there had any ideas for improvements, and such.

I emailed 1010tires.com about those te-37's. At first they told me the dont cary anything with a 4x110mm pattern, but i told him that the te-27's are listed as that size. The guy said they can get them but they are a special order from japan, and it takes 3 months to order them. That place seems screwy. I dont think i would order from them.

not sure how old this thread is (found it in a search) but im VERY interested in the adapters. i found rims i love, but only in 4x100... if you are making them, i dont want to buy them unless youve tested them (im sure thats understandable) also, doesnt this make the wheels stick out farther than they should?

Well, here's my take on this fascinating subject.
First, do not "oval out" the holes. What a bad idea. 'Nuff said on that.
Re-drilling is much better, and if you can find a place that can do it RIGHT for a reasonable charge, you can use almost ANY 4-lug wheel. Imagine the possibilities! Those wheels at 1010 tire seem pretty friggin' expensive to me. I have a set of 13X7 wheels that were off my friend's GT3 RX3. He had his rain tires mounted on them. They are in a Ford bolt pattern, so the fronts were drilled to 4 on 110mm, and the rears fit the Ford rear-end. I was going to have the rears redrilled to fit Mazda, but I think I'm going to hang on to 'em the way they are. Might run across someone with that setup eventually. Plus, they had too much offset for my non-flared RX3.
A lot of companies offered wheels to fit 4-110mm up until the 2nd Gens came out, then they just dried up. Enkei, Riken, Western all made wheels for 1st Gens and they can be found with some looking. I think the problem was, they all got messed up pretty bad when people would crash their RX7, so the junkyards don't usually have them. Interestingly enough, when I was at the junkyard on Friday, I had the guy do a search for the 14" LE wheels and he came up with several, mostly back east. -WG

ADAPTERS ARE HORRIBLY UNSAFE FOR ROAD DRIVING.

How many times in how many threads are we going to have to discuss this??
