Mmmmmm.... Cherry Red Manifold

Yeah, so i was messing around in a parking lot tonight and you know doing donuts. when i was ready to get going i wanted to check and make sure everything was good in the engine bay, opened her up and my racing beat header was glowing cherry red. i swear it was the coolest thing i've ever seen, i was actually really impressed that i didnt crack the header at all... but anyways thats my story for the day =-)

I've seen a ported 13B with custom headers with the entire exhaust pipe right from the header all the way back to (and including the muffler) bright red. The header's were so hot that you actually squinted looking at them. The bumper unfortunately warped from the heat. Cool, but not particularily effective. I guess it was completely floored in 5th for like 20 mins, basically right up around 7100 RPM. At the very least he should have kept his speed while it cooled, instead of letting the bumper melt. lol

I think that particular car is burning way too rich... but that's a story for another day.

I had two fins...18 guage steel, 2-3 inches tall...welded down the length of my headers. I once opened my hood and the headers were glowing like that...very cool but when they get THAT hot and are glowing ****** white? Not gonna fly. The two fins kept them quite a mit cooler.
