Question Mis-firing on L1

Please help, I have an 82 RX7 wth a carburated, manual 12a.

Bought it from a kid that made alot of mods to it.

Running rough when I got it, may be the apex seal, unsure at this point.

But to get to my question, here goes.

Engine running rough, not wanting to start, had to do the deflooding on it.

Replaced to plugs, has electronic ignition, fired right up but ran real rough.

Went to hook up a timing light to L1 wire, timing light would not come on, (new timing light by the way) so I hooked up the

light to the T1 wire and sure enough, the light flashed.

Checked the other wires and got nothing from the light.

Long story short, I bought and installed new plug wires, have strong spark showing from leading and trailing coils.
L2, T1, T2 all have strong spark, but L1 shows an occasional spark if any.

Does anyone know how this can be fixed? What should I check next?

Trailing ignition does little for power, leading produces most of it. One leading plug not firing causes a substantial power loss and rough running.

As a refresher so we are both on the same page, Leading is lower, trailing is top, #1 is front rotor and #2 is rear.

Start by switching the leadiing plugs, no change?, switch the leading plug wires, no change?, replace the cap and rotor. If none of that helps, do a compression test. It is not an ignitor, otherwise both plugs would be dead.

Thanks for the input, I switched he plugs, changed leading wires and replaced the cap & rotor. still nothing!
I was told I could not use conventional test equipment for a compression test.
I am a newbie on this since it has been 20 years since I owned a Mazda, or should I say, it has been 20 years since a Mazda has owned me.
Any further suggestions
Beast won't even start at this point!
Help!

If you have trouble pinpointing the exact cause. Try swaping in a known, good, dizzy.

you can swap the cap 180 degrees, see if the misfire moves to L2.

you say it has electronic ignition. Is it MSD or Accel? Well what ever it is, it may be connected incorrectly or circut fried. Try reinstalling the stock set up and you'll be just fine. If stock set is what you have check your ignitor (leading)

Electronic means he doesn't have the earlier points style system. If the leading ignitor was dead, neither leading plug would fire.
