Miata Shifter Review

I recently swapped my stock shifter for a 1996 mazda miata shifter, i just had to do away with the plastic bushing insert at the bottom and machine a little groove in the larger plastic bushing under the shift lever boot. Shifts great, since the whole shifter and **** are a inch shorter that our stock shifter the throws are shorter which most of you know.
i really like it. Looks really cool too, cooler then stock anyways. Recommend it to anyone, especially better over the short shifter mazdatrix sells for almost 300$? Yah.

if anyone wants pics i'll post.

I got an S5 shifter for $10. Works a little better than stock.

When you buy a new shifter, do they usually come with bushings?

i would say so, this was out of a miata i had sitting around for parts.
I'll post pics here tonight.

I would have put the short shifter in but, why buy one when i made one? i would think i'd have to modify the short shifter as much as the stock one. But i'm plenty pleased with what i've done and have.
The shifter i have is the same as all miata's 1990-1997, i believe. Only has on notch instead of the later they had two. I believe that's right.

I dont think the notch i took out of that bushing was necessary, because i am able to just push the shifter right back into the spring in the trans and it sets in perfectly everytime.
