I was told by an ITA racer to use this, and alot of guys use them now. They fit great, and save 30lbs!

Well thats what I believe the idea behind it is, I'm going to do that myself. A regular battery will actually fit in there, but then you need to mod a box around it. Technically you dont have to put a box around this because of its sealed propertys, so It should fit good.

I have that battery, it's great so far, 1.5 yrs., but its not sealed. See the 2 nipples near the posts, they are for vent tubeing. Mines in the engine compartment for now, I beleive in the Miata it go's in the trunk and is vented out.

Ok?

Stevan yea I noticed about that, but what they did is made it so its not a "flooded" battery that spills.

I'm going with:

NASCAR XLT
XLT AUTO SIZE XDT35 NASCAR XLT
Item: 145435
Price: $95.46

From Sams Club, this is an orbital spiral battery made by Exide same technology as the Optima.

The BIG reason behind getting the miata battery is it is light. Yes lighter then an optima or orbit, and cheaper. The only other batterys that are going to be lighter are the expensive sealed battery for high end audio systems, and I was quoted $180 for one a little smaller then the miata battery. It also had 800 CCA
