Not to completely hijack this thread...but I will. I think the ReSpeed Rack and Pinion is cool stuff, however it doesn't fit at all in the SCCA racing world. In club racing, for example, Improved Touring and Production cars have to use the stock steering box. The same is true in most of the Solo II classes. It is not until you get to GT (Club Racing) or Prepared/Modified (Solo II) that any kind of an alternate steering box can be used. Of course, by the time you are in those classes you can have a car with very few stock parts so an alternate steering box isn't an issue.

So, what is available for the stock box in terms of repair parts? What did the Mazda trucks use? Any ideas?

There are allot us racing FB's in the SCCA and the steering box is an issue. Seems like an opportunity.

in the interest of just finishing this project, I am going to leave the rack and pinion alone for now. I will update this later, if I go ahead with the idea.
