Metallic grinding/rubbing noise

Not sure what's going on, when my car is in gear it makes a metallic noise while i'm moving, put the car in neutral and it stops, hit the clutch, it stops, it sounds like a metallic rubbing like a saw cutting metal, it's not loud, but very noticable...throw out bearing perhaps? just started suddenly doing it about halfway home tonight... well, after a camaro was messing with me when i tried passing him.

Throwout bearing would only make the noise when the clutch pedal was down.

What about 4th gear, does it make the noise in 4th gear?

I know what it might be. One night after doing some high speed runs my car suddenly started making the same type of noise. Turns out the metal cap on the end of the driveshaft where it goes into the gearbox had dislodged. It's to stop dirt and crap getting into the box. Probably won't make much difference if you cut it off though. That's what I did because I couldn't be stuffed unbolting the driveshaft.

It's a possibility, but it mainly does it in 4th and i hear it the worst on deceleration.

I wasn't messing with the camaro he was messing with me, i was trying to pass him and he kept being a ***** and speeding up. my synchros into 3rd are completely destroyed and that's the gear i downshifted into, i can't speed shift into 3rd, for some reason the gear like moves out of the way, it goes inbetween 3rd and 5th and the stick stays there but the car doesn't move, it might be shaved metal from the gear grinding making the noise, but why all the sudden it does this, i didn't even grind third passing him, i double clutched.
